BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY MINUTES July 18, 2017 Regular Session: The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. in the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Norm Childress, Cindy Murray and Dawn Ross. Absent: Ron Shriner Jacque Chosnek, 1st Deputy City Attorney, was also present. President Henriott called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country. MINUTES Mr. Childress moved for approval of the minutes from the July 11, 2017 regular meeting. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. BID OPENING 2017 Pavement Markings President Henriott stated that no bids were received. NEW BUSINESS Supplemental Agreement #1-South Street Resurfacing Project Jenny Leshney, Public Works Director, presented to the Board and recommended approval of Supplemental Agreement #1 for the South Street Resurfacing Project with TBird Designs. The amount of the agreement is $35,000.00 which increases the total amount of the original agreement to not-to-exceed $100,000.00. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. Permission to Advertise-24th, 25th and Knight Street Curb, Sidewalk and Ramp Replacement Project (ReBid) Mrs. Leshney presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Permission to Advertise for the 24th, 25th and Knight Street Curb, Sidewalk and Ramp Replacement Project. The project will be bid on August 15 with publications on July 21 & 28, 2017. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. CLAIMS Tim Clary, Deputy Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $1,867,322.73. President Henriott asked if there were any further questions and there were none. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. Board of Public Works and Safety July 18, 2017 Page 2 MISCELLANEOUS Special Event Request-Hartford Hub Neighborhood Party/Mural Reveal President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for Hartford Hub Neighborhood Party/Mural Reveal to be held on August 5th, 2017 from 3:00pm-8:00pm at Lincoln Neighborhood and the surrounding area. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. Special Event Request-Community Neighborhood Car Show President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for Community Neighborhood Car Show to be held on August 12th, 2017 from 12:00pm-12:00am on S. 11th between State Street and Kossuth Street. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. ANNOUNCEMENTS Brad Talley, Lafayette Renew formerly Water Pollution Control, announced to the Board that Water Pollution Control Department has recently changed its name to Lafayette Renew. Mr. Talley stated that his department went through a re-branding for the treatment plan to accurately show just what the department does on a daily basis. The department is more than just wastewater and stormwater. Mr. Talley stated that the industry trend is to get away from negative words such as ‘pollution’. This re- branding was an internal effort by the employees at Lafayette Renew.
