MINUTES
February 20, 2018
Regular Session:
The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at 9:00 a.m.
in the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Cindy Murray, Norm
Childress, Ron Shriner and Dawn Ross
Jacque Chosnek, 1st Deputy City Attorney, was also present.
President Henriott called the meeting to order.
The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country.
MINUTES
Mr. Childress moved for approval of the minutes from the February 13, 2018 regular meeting. Mrs. Ross
seconded. Passed.
BID OPENING
Sodium Hypochlorite, Sodium Bisulfite, Hydrochloric Acid, Ferric Chloride and Sodium Aluminate
This being the time set to open bids for the Sodium Hypochlorite, Sodium Bisulfite, Hydrochloric Acid,
Ferric Chloride and Sodium Aluminate, the following bids were received and opened:
JCI Jones Chemicals, Inc
Beech Grove, Indiana
Sodium Hypochlorite: $.75 per gallon
PVS Technologies/Chemical Solutions
Detroit, Michigan
Sodium Bisulfite: $1.19 per gallon
Ferric Chloride: $1.21 per gallon
Hydrochloric Acid Option #1: $115.50 per drum (40 drum minimum)
Hydrochloric Acid Option #2: $134.61 per drum (20 drum minimum)

Sodium Hypochlorite: $.82 per gallon
Sodium Bisulfite: $1.155 per gallon

Mrs. Murray moved to take the bids under advisement for further review. Mr. Childress seconded.
Passed.
NEW BUSINESS
Engineering
Contract-City Hall HVAC Controls Upgrade
Jeromy Grenard, Public Works Director, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Contract
for the City Hall HVAC Controls Upgrade with D.A. Dodd, LLC in the amount of $581,950.00. Mr.
Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed.
Notice to Proceed-City Hall HVAC Controls Upgrade
Mr. Grenard presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Notice to Proceed for the City Hall
HVAC Controls Upgrade with D.A. Dodd LLC. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded.
Passed.
Purchasing
Contract Renewal-Landscape Maintenance (Reservoir Mowing)
Dave Payne, Purchasing Manager, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Contract
Renewal with Morrow’s Lawn Service for the Reservoir Mowing for the same price as last year. Mrs.
Ross moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed.
Declaration of Surplus Property-Cell Phones
Mr. Payne presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Declaration of Surplus Property for a
variety of cell phones from different departments. Mr. Payne stated that these items have been replaced.
The iPhones will be sold and the other phones will be donated. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mr.
Shriner seconded. Passed.
CLAIMS
Mike Jones, Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $4,126,158.33. President
Henriott asked if there were any further questions and there were none. Mr. Childress moved for
approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed.
