BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
MINUTES
July 2, 2019
Regular Session:
The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. in the
Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Cindy Murray, Ron Shriner, Amy
Moulton and Norm Childress.
Jacque Chosnek, 1st Deputy City Attorney, was also present.
President Henriott called the meeting to order.
The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country.
MINUTES
Mrs. Moulton moved for approval of the minutes from the June 25, 2019 regular meeting. Mrs. Murray
seconded. Passed.
BIDS UNDER ADVISEMENT
Williams Street Sewer Project
President Henriott stated that this item will remain under advisement.
NEW BUSINESS
Lafayette Renew
Contract-9th Street Storm Sewer Separation and Pump Station Project
Jeromy Grenard, Public Works Director, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Contract
for the 9th Street Storm Sewer Separation and Pump Station Project with Bowen Engineering. The
Guaranteed Saving Contract is in the amount of $6,697,500.00 for 55 acres of combined sewer system.
This will reduce the volume of the next CSO Storage tank by more than 1.1 Million Gallons while
reducing the volume of wastewater treated at the wastewater treatment plant by more than 24 MG during
a typical year. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Moulton seconded. Passed.
Notice to Proceed-9th Street Storm Sewer Separation and Pump Station Project
Mr. Grenard presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Notice to Proceed for the 9th Street
Storm Sewer Separation and Pump Station Project to begin today. The substantial completion is set for
July 2, 2020 and final completion is set for August 2, 2020. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Murray
seconded. Passed.
Amendment #1-Greely & Hansen Contract for 9th Street Storm Sewer Separation and Pump Station
Project
Mr. Grenard presented to the Board and recommended approval of Amendment #1 for the 9th Street
Storm Sewer Separation and Pump Station contract with Greeley & Hansen for an hourly not-to-exceed in

the amount $331,900.00. The amendment is for construction office services for the project. Mrs. Murray
moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed.
CLAIMS
Tim Clary, Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $4,220,517.95. President
Henriott asked if there were any further questions and there were none. Mr. Childress moved for
approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed.
MISCELLANOUS
Special Event Request-Rvierfest 5K
President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for the
Riverfest 5K to be held on July 13, 2019 from 7:30am-9:30am located in Downtown Lafayette. Mrs.
Murray moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed.
Special Event Request-MatchBox Entrepreneur Week
President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for
MatchBox Entrepreneur Week to be held on September 19, 2019 from 8:00am-10:30pm on S. 6th Street
from South Street to Alabama Street. Mrs. Moulton moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed.
Special Event Request-Boiler Bridge Bash
President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for the
Boiler Bridge Bash to be held on August 15, 2019 from 3:00pm-12:00am at Riehle Plaza and Downtown
Lafayette. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed.
President Henriott reminded everyone that there will not be a Board of Works meeting on July 9, 2019.
The next meeting will be held on July 16, 2019 at 9:00 a.m.
