MINUTES
May 4, 2021
Regular Session:
The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. in the
Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Cindy Murray, Amy Moulton, Ron Shriner
and Norm Childress.
Jacque Chosnek, City Attorney, was also present.
President Henriott called the meeting to order.
The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country.
MINUTES
Mrs. Murray moved for approval of the minutes from the April 27, 2021 regular meeting. Mrs. Moulton
seconded. Passed.
OLD BUSINESS
Special Event Request-Aviators Street Fest
Mr. Shriner moved to remove this from the Table. Mrs. Murray seconded. Removed. Dave Krakower, Event
Representative, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for the Aviators
Street Fest to be held on June 19, 2021 from 2:00pm-6:00pm on Wallace Avenue from 24th Street to Park Avenue
and on 24th Street from Wallace Avenue to Brice Street. Mr. Krakower stated that he spoke with Tom from the
Frozen Custard to work out the closure in front of his business. Mr. Shriner moved for approval of the amended
closure. Mrs. Moulton seconded. Passed.
NEW BUSINESS
Purchasing
Declaration of Worthless Property-Lafayette Police
Dave Payne, Purchasing Manager, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Declaration of
Worthless Property for Lafayette Police Department that includes a list of equipment ranging from radars,
antenna, batons, cages, lights etc. Mr. Payne stated that the equipment has been in storage and will be scrapped.
Mrs. Moulton moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed.
CLAIMS
Jeremy Diehl, Deputy Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $5,414,624.12. President
Henriott asked a question on Page 19 regarding the invoice for Target Solutions Learning. Mr. Diehl stated that
was for the Lafayette Police Department. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed.

MISCELLANEOUS
Special Event Request-Grant’s House Celebration
Jason McManus, Event Representative, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event
Request for the Grant’s House Celebration to be held on May 7, 2021 from 5:00pm-10:30pm located on 16th
Street from Salem Street to Tippecanoe Street. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed.
Special Event Request-Outdoor Video Projection Demonstration for First Friday
Ann Fields Monical, Event Representative, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event
Request for the Outdoor Video Projection Demonstration for First Friday event to be held on May 7, 2021 from
8:00pm-10:00pm located on North Street between 6th and 7th Streets. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mr.
Shriner seconded. Passed.
Special Event Request-National Night Out-Lafayette Police
Mrs. Murray, on behalf of Ian O’Shields, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event
Request for the National Night Out for Lafayette Police event to be held on July 31, 2021 from 5:00pm-7:00pm
located on Wallace Avenue in front of Loeb Stadium. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mrs. Moulton seconded.
Passed.
Special Event Request-Citizens Band Concert Schedule 2021
Mrs. Murray presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for the Citizens Band
Concert and Rehearsal Schedule for 2021 to be held at Riehle Plaza on various dates and times from May through
September. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Moulton seconded. Passed.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Brad Talley, Lafayette Renew, announced to the Board that the City of Lafayette Renew Department won a Merit
Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies for their work with the 9th Street Stormwater Sewer
Separation and Pump Station Project. Mayor Roswarski thanked Mr. Talley and his team for their hard work and
dedication.
Mayor Roswarski invited the Board and the public to the Ground Breaking Ceremony for the Public Safety
Building and Parking Garage for the City of Lafayette. The event starts at 3:00pm today on 6th Street in front of
City Hall.
Mr. Childress thanked the Parks Department and Tree Lafayette for all the trees that were planted on N. 15th
Street.
