BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
MINUTES
May 11, 2021
Regular Session:
The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. in the
Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Cindy Murray, Amy Moulton, Ron Shriner
and Norm Childress.
Jacque Chosnek, City Attorney, was also present.
President Henriott called the meeting to order.
The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country.
MINUTES
Mrs. Murray moved for approval of the minutes from the May 4, 2021 regular meeting. Mrs. Moulton seconded.
Passed.
BID OPENING
Highland Park Curb Replacement Project
This being the time set to open bids for the Highland Park Curb Replacement and the following bids were
received and opened:
Dixon Construction
Lafayette, Indiana
Base Bid: $139,440.00
Rieth-Riley Construction
Lafayette, Indiana
Base Bid: $202,619.60
Milestone Contractors
Lafayette, Indiana
Base Bid: $272,074.00
Mrs. Moulton moved to take the bids under advisement for further review. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed.
NEW BUSINESS
Engineering
Permission to Advertise-S. 9th Street Sidewalk Reconstruction
Jeromy Grenard, Public Works Director, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Permission to
Advertise for the S. 9th Street Sidewalk Reconstruction Project. The advertisements are set to run on May 14 &
21, 2021 with the bid opening on June 1, 2021. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed.

Contract-Maplewood Subdivision Ramp Replacement
Mr. Grenard presented to the Board and recommended approval of Contract for the Maplewood Subdivision
Ramp Replacement Project with Dixon Construction in the amount of $42,848.00. Mr. Grenard stated that three
(3) quotes were received by Dixon Construction for $42,848.00, Heartland Construction for $44,320.00 and Wise
Choice Concrete for $49,900.00. Mrs. Moulton moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed.
Notice to Proceed- Maplewood Subdivision Ramp Replacement
Mr. Grenard presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Notice to Proceed for the Maplewood
Subdivision Ramp Replacement Project with Dixon Construction. The notice is set to start today. Mr. Shriner
moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed.
Contract-Country Charm Subdivision Ramp Replacement
Mr. Grenard presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Contract for the Country Charm Subdivision
Ramp Replacement Project with Dixon Construction in the amount of $22,432.00, Mr. Grenard stated that three
(3) quotes were received by Dixon Construction for $22,432.00, Heartland Construction for $23,360.00 and Wise
Choice Concrete for $24,500.00. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed.
Notice to Proceed-Country Charm Subdivision Ramp Replacement
Mr. Grenard presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Notice to Proceed for the Country Charm
Subdivision Ramp Replacement Project with Dixon Construction. The notice is set to start today. Mr. Childress
moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed.
Lafayette Renew
Contract with Christopher Burke Engineering-Vinton Woods Stormwater Conveyance Improvements
Brad Talley, Renew Superintendent, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Contract with
Christopher Burke Engineering for the Vinton Woods Stormwater Conveyance Improvements Project. This
contract is for design, permitting, bidding assistance; and construction related services associated with these
improvements. The contract is in the amount not-to-exceed $239,000.00. Mrs. Moulton moved for approval. Mrs.
Murray seconded. Passed.
Lafayette Housing Authority
Agreement between Lafayette Housing Consortium and Habitat for Humanity of Lafayette 2020 Project #1-North
16th Street
Valerie Oakley, Project Manager, presented to the Board and recommended approval of an Agreement between
the Lafayette Housing Consortium and Habitat for Humanity of Lafayette 2020 Project #1 for North 16th Street.
This agreement provides up to $35,000.00 of HOME Funds for the acquisition and construction of 1821 North
16th Street. This project will provide an energy efficient, newly constructed home for a new homeowner that will
blend will with the neighborhood. Discussion ensued. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded.

Agreement between Lafayette Housing Consortium and Habitat for Humanity of Lafayette 2020 Project #2-
Poland Hill
Mrs. Oakley presented to the Board and recommended approval of an Agreement between the Lafayette Housing
Consortium and Habitat for Humanity of Lafayette 2020 Project #2 for Poland Hill. This agreement provides up
to $35,000.00 of HOME Funds for the acquisition and construction of 2521 Poland Hill. This project will provide
an energy efficient, newly constructed home for a new homeowner. Mrs. Moulton moved for approval. Mrs.
Murray seconded. Passed.
CLAIMS
Jeremy Diehl, Deputy Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $499,834.54. President
Henriott asked if there were any further questions and there were none. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mr.
Childress seconded. Passed.
MISCELLANEOUS
Special Event Request-Memorial Day Parade
Mrs. Murray, Event Representative, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event
Request for the Memorial Day Parade to be held on May 31, 2021 from 10:00am-12:00noon located on Main
Street from Alabama to Wallace Avenue and also Wallace Avenue from Main Street to Park Avenue. Mr.
Childress moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed.
