BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY MINUTES September 20, 2022 Regular Session: The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. in the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Cindy Murray, Ron Shriner and Amy Moulton. Absent: Norm Childress Jacque Chosnek, City Attorney, was also present. President Henriott called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country. MINUTES Mrs. Moulton moved for approval of the minutes from the September 13, 2022 regular meeting. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed. NEW BUSINESS Lafayette Housing Authority Agreement between City of Lafayette and Lafayette Transitional Housing Center for the Homeless Services Program 2022 Ashley Adams, Project Manager, presented to the Board and recommended approval of an Agreement between City of Lafayette and Lafayette Transitional Housing Center for the Homeless Services Program. This agency provides supportive services and case management to individuals and families who are experiencing homelessness or who at-risk of becoming homeless. The funding awarded for this project is in the amount of $31,747.00. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. Agreement between City of Lafayette and Lafayette Urban Ministry for the Emergency Homeless Shelter 2022 Ms. Adams presented to the Board and recommended approval of an Agreement between City of Lafayette and Lafayette Urban Ministry for the Emergency Homeless Shelter. This program provides short-term overnight shelter, meals, and showers to homeless individuals. The funding awarded for this project is in the amount of $18,799.00. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mrs. Moulton seconded. Passed. Agreement between City of Lafayette and Family Promise of the Family Emergency Homeless Shelter 2022 Ms. Adams presented to the Board and recommended approval of an Agreement between City of Lafayette and Family Promise of the Family Emergency Homeless Shelter. The agency provides shelter, food, transportation, and case management services to families that are experiencing homelessness. The funding awarded for this project is in the amount of $14,418.00. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Moulton seconded. Passed. Board of Public Works and Safety September 20, 2022 Page 2 Lafayette Renew Contract-7th Street Storm Sewer Project Brad Talley, Renew Superintendent, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Contract for the 7th Street Storm Sewer Project with Bowen Engineering. The contract is in the amount of $504,000.00. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mrs. Moulton seconded. Passed. Notice to Proceed-7th Street Storm Sewer Project Mr. Talley presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Notice to Proceed for the 7th Street Storm Sewer Project. The notice to proceed is set to start today. Mr. Talley stated that the substantial completion is scheduled for May 31, 2023 and the final completion is scheduled for June 30, 2023. Mrs. Moulton moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed. CLAIMS Jeremy Diehl, Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $818,837.33. President Henriott asked if there were any further questions and there were none. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mrs. Moulton seconded. Passed. MISCELLANOUS Special Event Request-Salvation Army Candy Cruise Community Fair Audrey Schneider, Event Representative, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for the Salvation Army Candy Cruise Community Fair to be held on October 29, 2022 from 2:00pm- 7:00pm located on 12th Street between Union Street and Salem Street. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mrs. Moulton seconded. Passed.
