BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY MINUTES July 18, 2023 Regular Session: The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. in the Common Council Chambers. Members present were Gary Henriott, Amy Moulton, and Cindy Murray. Absent: Eric Rody and Ron Shriner Jacque Chosnek, City Attorney, was also present. President Henriott called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country. MINUTES Mrs. Moulton moved for approval of the minutes from the July 11, 2023 regular meeting. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. NEW BUSINESS Parks Department Armstrong Park Tennis/Basketball Sport Court Surfacing Proposal Jon Miner, Parks Department, presented to the Board and recommended approval of the Armstrong Park Tennis/Basketball Sport Court Surfacing Proposal with A.G. Sport Surfaces, LLC in the amount of $73,302.03. The work will consist of 2 coats of acrylic re-surfacer, 2 coats of acrylic color, layout and striping 2” textured lines and installation of 5 sets of tennis posts. Also included is grinding and application of patch binder over asphalt seams to prep for the final coatings. Mr. Miner answered questions from the Board. Mrs. Moulton moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. Arlington Park Basketball Sport Court Surfacing Proposal Mr. Miner presented to the Board and recommended approval of the Arlington Park Basketball Sport Court Surfacing Proposal with A.G. Sport Surfaces, LLC in the amount of $9,944.60. The work will consist of 2 coats of acrylic re-surfacer, 2 coats of acrylic color, layout and striping 2” textured lines and installation of 5 sets of tennis posts. Also included is grinding and application of patch binder over asphalt seams to prep for the final coatings. Mr. Miner stated that this will be paid out of CDBG Funds. Mrs. Moulton moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. CLAIMS Jeremy Diehl, Controller, presented for Board approval of Claims in the amount of $4,047,634.60. President Henriott asked a question on Page 5 regarding Targetsolutions Learning LLC invoice for Annual Maintenance/Membership Fee. Mr. Diehl stated that is for Lafayette Fire training and compliance management software. President Henriott asked a question on Page 8 regarding the Burnell Pit Inc invoice for Dumping Fees- Street. Mr. Diehl stated that is for waste, asphalt and other products dumping fees. President Henriott asked a question on Page 11 regarding the Gripp Inc invoice for Prairie Oaks Flow Study. Mr. Diehl stated that is for Board of Public Works and Safety July 18, 2023 Page 2 Lafayette Renew vendor as a subcontractor for city projects. Mrs. Moulton moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. MISCELLANEOUS Special Event Request-LPD National Night Out Justin Hartman, Lafayette Police, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for LPD National Night Out to be held on August 1, 2023 from 2:00pm-6:00pm at Loeb Stadium with street closure on Wallace Avenue between Main Street and the entrance to Arni’s Pizza. Mrs. Moulton moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. Special Event Request-Indiana Makers Market Pop-Up Angela Vinson, Event Representative, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for Indiana Makers Market Pop-Up to be held on August 26, 2023 from 8:00am-12:30pm at the intersection of 5th and Ferry Streets and the alley between 5th and 6th Streets. Mrs. Moulton moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. Special Event Request-Bauer Family Resources Backyard BBQ/Community Event Natalie McKenney, Event Representative, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for Bauer Family Resources Backyard BBQ/Community Event to be held on August 25, 2023 from 5:00pm-8:00pm on Fountain Street between 3rd and 4th Street. Mrs. Moulton moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. Special Event Request-PURE Regenerative Medicine Open House President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for PURE Regenerative Medicine Open House to be held on August 18, 2023 from 3:00pm-7:00pm on 2nd Street in front of PURE storefront and the 2 parking spots directly in front of the storefront. Mrs. Moulton moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed.
