BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
MINUTES
July 25, 2023
Regular Session:
The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. in the
Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Cindy Murray, Amy Moulton, Eric Rody and Ron Shriner.
Absent: Gary Henriott
Jacque Chosnek, City Attorney, was also present.
Mrs. Murray called the meeting to order.
The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country.
MINUTES
Mrs. Moulton moved for approval of the minutes from the July 18, 2023 regular meeting. Mr. Shriner seconded.
Passed. Mr. Rody abstained.
QUOTE OPENING
Lafayette Renew-Coating/Painting Project 2023
This being the time set to open quotes for the Lafayette Renew Coating/Painting Project 2023 and the following
quotes were received and opened:
Karma Industries, Inc.
Lafayette, Indiana
Headworks Electrical Room Floor: $16,595.89
Headworks Exhaust Duct and Metal Brackets: $22,078.36
Generators: $19,423.23
Switch Gears: $12,948.82
Draft Tube Mixer Platforms: $62,874.19
Mr. Shriner moved to take the quotes under advisement for further review. Mr. Rody seconded. Passed.
NEW BUSINESS
Economic Development
Historic Demolition Permit 2604 South Street
John Collier, Economic Development, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Historic
Demolition Permit for 2604 South Street. Mr. Collier stated that Dann Keiser, Lafayette Historic Preservation
Officer, determined that the loss of the structure would be a loss of an historic resource and recommended
upholding the 60-day waiting period. Mrs. Moulton moved to uphold the 60-day waiting period. Mr. Shriner
seconded. Passed.

Lafayette Housing Authority
Amendment #1-Agreement between City of Lafayette and Tippecanoe County Council on Aging dba Tippecanoe
Senior Home Assistance Repair Program 2022
Valerie Oakley, Project Manager, presented to the Board and recommended approval of Amendment #1 for the
Agreement between City of Lafayette and Tippecanoe County Council on Aging dba Tippecanoe Senior Home
Assistance Repair Program 2022. The PY22 Program has a carryover balance of $5,783.80 and needs to extend the
end date to December 31, 2023. The original agreement ended on June 30, 2023. Mrs. Moulton moved for approval.
Mr. Rody seconded. Passed.
CLAIMS
Jeremy Diehl, Controller, presented for Board approval of Claims in the amount of $1,206,195.08. Mr. Rody
asked a question on Page 11 regarding the Flock Group Inc invoices for Flock Falcon Cameras and
Implementation Fee. Mr. Diehl stated those are monitoring cameras for the Lafayette Police Department. Mr.
Rody asked a question on Page 13 regarding the Riggs Community Health Center Inc invoices for 3rd Quarter
2023 Payment. Mr. Diehl stated that is a statutory support of a community health organization and is determined
by Indiana Code and population. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Moulton seconded. Passed.
MISCELLANEOUS
Special Event Request-German Fest
Michelle Ford, Event Representative, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event
Request for German Fest to be held on September 9, 2023 from 4pm-11pm on the streets surrounding St.
Boniface Church that include Ferry, 8th, 9th, and North Streets. Mrs. Moulton moved for approval. Mr. Rody
seconded. Passed.
