BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY MINUTES January 16, 2024 Regular Session: The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. in the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Cindy Murray, Amy Moulton, Eric Rody and Ron Shriner. Jacque Chosnek, City Attorney, was also present. President Henriott called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country. MINUTES Mrs. Moulton moved for approval of the minutes from the January 9, 2024 regular meeting. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed. NEW BUSINESS Engineering Recommendation for Award-Utility Emergency Repairs Program 2024 Jeromy Grenard, Public Works Director, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Recommendation for Award for the Utility Emergency Repairs Program 2024 with both Milestone Contractors and Atlas Excavating. These bids establish the rates of future emergency work during the period of January 16, 2024 to December 31, 2024. In the event of a utility emergency, the City of Lafayette will select one of these two contractors on the basis of scope of work and availability. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mr. Rody seconded. Passed. Certificate of Completion-Valley Forge Concrete Replacement Project Mr. Grenard presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Certificate of Completion for Valley Forge Concrete Replacement Project with Dixon Construction. Mr. Grenard stated that the work has passed all inspections, there are no outstanding work items, and all the final pay requests have been submitted. The 1-year warranty begins today. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mrs. Moulton seconded. Passed. Certificate of Completion-Vinton Woods Concrete Replacement Project Mr. Grenard presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Certificate of Completion for Vinton Woods Concrete Replacement Project with Heartland Contractors. Mr. Grenard stated that the work has passed all inspections, there are no outstanding work items, and all the final pay requests have been submitted. The 1-year warranty begins today. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. President Henriott asked if there were any further questions and there were none. Mrs. Moulton moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed. MISCELLANEOUS Taxicab Permits Captain Brian Gossard, Lafayette Police Department, presented to the Board and recommended approval of Taxicab Permits for Jeffery Allen Foltz and Lester Chaney. Captain Gossard stated that the applicants passed the background check. Mrs. Moulton moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. Captain Gossard requested the denial of a Taxicab Permit for Jeffrey Davis. Mr. Rody moved to deny the permit. Mr. Shriner seconded. Denied.
