BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY MINUTES October 22, 2024 Regular Session: The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. in the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Cindy Murray, Ron Shriner and Eric Rody. Absent: Amy Moulton Jacque Chosnek, City Attorney, was present at the meeting. President Henriott called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country. MINUTES Mr. Rody moved for approval of the minutes from the October 15, 2024 regular meeting. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. NEW BUSINESS Engineering Contract- Quotes: Small Concrete Projects President Henriott stated that this item will be tabled. Mr. Shriner moved to table this item. Mrs. Murray seconded. Tabled. Notice to Proceed- Quotes: Small Concrete Projects President Henriott stated that this item will be tabled. Mr. Shriner moved to table this item. Mrs. Murray seconded. Tabled. Permission to Advertise-Structure Demolition at 11 N. 13th Street Jason Burks, Engineering, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Permission to Advertise for the Structure Demolition at 11 N. 13th Street. Publications are set to run on October 25 and November 1, 2024 with the bid opening on November 12, 2024. Ms. Chosnek stated that this property went before the Lafayette Hearing Authority 18 months ago with an order for demolition. Ms. Chosnek stated that this property will come before the Board again in two (2) weeks for consideration of the 60-day waiting period. Mr. Rody moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed. Parks Department Change Order #1-McCaw Park Improvements, Phase 2 Jon Miner, Parks Department, presented to Board and recommended approval of Change Order #1 for McCaw Park Improvements, Phase 2 with JR Kelly Corporation. The change order is for additional cost for remediation work to stabilize the soils beneath the two pickleball courts, the basketball court and areas of the walking trail. The change order is an increase in the amount of $107,010.00 which brings the revised contract amount to Board of Public Works and Safety October 22, 2024 Page 2 $2,910,010.00. The change order also includes an increase of eighty (80) days to the contract time. Mr. Miner stated that the remainder of the work will be completed according to the timeframe outlined in the original contract. The new date of final completion will be June 4, 2025. Mr. Miner answered questions from the Board. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mr. Rody seconded. Passed. CLAIMS Jeremy Diehl, Controller, presented for Board approval of Claims in the amount of $7,143,031.00. President Henriott asked if there were any further questions and there were none. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mr. Rody seconded. Passed.
