AREA BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS OF TIPPECANOE COUNTY LAFAYETTE DIVISION August 21, 2017 The City of Lafayette Board of Zoning Appeals met in regular session on Monday, August 21, 2017 at 4:00 PM. Members present were: Tracy Walder, David Lahr, Jake Gray, and Kathy Davis. The meeting was called to order by Ms. Walder. Ms. Davis moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting as distributed; second by Mr. Gray. The motion passed by unanimous voice vote. NEW BUSINESS: 2017-24 Petition filed by JON LUTTON for variance to allow a side setback of 1.5’ instead of the required 5’. Property located at 2504 ELIZABETH ST. Mr. Lahr moved to hear and approve the petition, second by Ms. Davis. Rob Weaver, agent for the petitioner, presented the petition. Mr. Weaver said that they tore down the existing garage, 20’ x 20’; it was dilapidated and ready to fall over. The owner wants to replace it with a 24’ x 24’ garage. The larger garage will only leave about 9’ of yard to the west. They want to minimize the area of the yard being taken away. They also want to maintain the current driveway alignment. Mr. Gray asked if any of the neighbors are concerned. Mr. Weaver responded that he has spoken to all of the neighbors and they all support the petition. Ms. Walder asked how close the existing garage was to the property line. Mr. Weaver responded that the existing garage was also 1.5’ from the property line. The Board voted by ballot: 4 yes 0 no. PETITION GRANTED The next meeting of the Lafayette Board of Zoning Appeals will be on Monday, September 18, 2017 at 4:00 PM. There being no further business to come before the Board at this time, the meeting was adjourned at 4:10 PM Chairman Secretary
