AREA BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS OF TIPPECANOE COUNTY LAFAYETTE DIVISION February 20, 2024 The City of Lafayette Board of Zoning Appeals met in regular session on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at 4:00 PM. Members present were: Jackson Bogan, Dave Williams, Dick Murray, Bob Metzger, and Carlynn Smith. Mr. Williams moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting as distributed; second by Mr. Metzger The motion passed by unanimous voice vote. NEW BUSINESS 2024-3 7 VENTURE INC Variance to allow a total sign area of 135.4 SF instead of the allowed 99.4 SF. Property located at 3842 SOUTH ST. Mr. Williams moved to hear and approve the petition; second by Ms. Smith. Bill Baumgartner, agent for the petitioner, presented the petition. Mr. Buamgartner stated that this sign package is part of the petitioner's corporate identity and is typically part of what they provide. The request is to allow a pole sign at this location. Mr. Murray stated that the previous petition approved for this site asked for about three times the allowance and asked why this wasn't included. Mr. Baumgartner replied that Whitehead Signs made that request and stated he did not know why this was not included in their petition. Mr. Murray provided additional concerns with the proposed sign package. Mr. Bogan asked why there was a need for the pylon sign. Mr. Baumgartner stated it is their standard corporate package. Board members brought up additional concerns and a general discussion regarding these issues ensued. With consent provided by Mr. Baumgartner, Mr. Williams moved to continue the petition; second by Mr. Metzger. The motion passed by unanimous voice vote. PETITION CONTINUED The next meeting of the Lafayette Board of Zoning Appeals will be on Monday, March 18, 2024 at 4:00 PM.
