MINUTES OF THE LAFAYETTE COMMON COUNCIL
August 6, 2012
REGULAR MEETING
The Common Council of the City of Lafayette, Indiana met in regular session on Monday August 6, 2012
at 7:00 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers, 20 North 6th Street, Lafayette, Indiana.
President Meyer called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.
The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country.
The following members were present:
Present: Heide, Klinker, Campbell, Brown, Ahlersmeyer, Downing and Weast-Williamson, and Meyer
Absent: Reynolds
State Representative Sheila Klinker presented Councilman Heide with a plaque honoring his 60th
Wedding Anniversary on June 14th.
City Clerk Cindy Murray and Deputy City Attorney Jacque Chosnek were present
The City Clerk stated that there was a quorum present.
Councilman Campbell moved to approve the minutes of July 2, 2012 meeting, Councilman Heide
seconded. There were no additions or corrections. Minutes approved by unanimous voice vote.
The Clerk stated there were no Claims, Petitions or Communications.
The Clerk stated the following reports are available in the City Clerk’s Office:

Fleet Maintenance/Motor Vehicle Department Monthly-June
Water Works Department Monthly-June
Water Pollution Control Department Monthly-June
There are No Ordinances for Second Reading.
Ordinances for First Reading:
The Clerk read Ordinance 2012-14 (An Ordinance to Amend the Zoning Ordinance of Tippecanoe
County to Rezone Certain Real Estate from R1 to I3-existing communication tower, Powderhouse Ln and
Walker Ln-Crown Castle, Petitioner) by title only on first and final reading. Councilwoman Weast-
Williamson moved for passage, Councilman Brown seconded. Petitioner, Mona Couch spoke regarding
the Ordinance. Ordinance 2012-14 passed 7-0 on a roll call vote on first and final reading
The Clerk read Ordinance 2012-15 (An Ordinance to Amend Ordinance 2011-18 Fixing the Salaries of
the Appointed Officers and Employees of the City of Lafayette, Indiana, for the Year 2012, Excluding the
Sworn Protective Occupation and Law Enforcement Members of the Police and Fire Departments) by title
only on first reading. Councilman Campbell moved for passage, Councilwoman Ahlersmeyer seconded.
Mayor Roswarski spoke regarding the Ordinance. Norm Childress, 1800 N.15th Street Board of Works
member commented on the hiring of the proposed and asked the council to support this Ordinance.
Ordinance 2012-15 passed 7-0 on a roll call vote on first and reading
There are No Resolutions.
There were no Reports of Standing Committees.
No Reports of Special Committees.
There was no Report by the Mayor
There was no Miscellaneous and New Business.
Reports of Council:
Councilman Campbell requested the City Clerk to send a letter to the media reminding citizens to please
water their trees.
Councilman Brown invited everyone to attend Hannafest on Monday September, 3, 2012
Public Comment:
Pearl Speakman, 923 So.23rd Street spoke about the recent ticket he received.
Councilman Campbell moved to adjourn Councilman Heide seconded.
Meeting adjourned at 7:30pm
