MINUTES OF THE LAFAYETTE COMMON COUNCIL
Thursday, October 7, 2021
SPECIAL MEETING for PUBLIC HEARING
The Common Council of the City of Lafayette, Indiana met in a virtual special session on
Thursday, October 7, 2021 at 5:00 p.m.
President Weast-Williamson called the meeting to order at 5:00 pm.
The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country
The following members were present:
Present: Heide, Klinker, Reynolds, Campbell, Ahlersmeyer, and Weast-Williamson,
Absent: Reynolds, Campbell and Brown
The City Clerk stated that there was a quorum present.
City Clerk Cindy Murray and City Attorney Jacque Chosnek were present.
President Weast-Williamson announced the purpose of the hearing was for public comment on
the following Ordinances:
The Clerk read the following Ordinances:
Ordinance 2021-51 (2022 GLPTC Budget, An Ordinance Appropriating Money for the Greater
Lafayette Public Transportation as Required Pursuant to Indiana Code 6-1.17-20.)
There was no public comment.
Ordinance 2021-52 (2022 Budget Ordinance, An Ordinance Appropriating Money for the
Purpose of Defraying the Expenses of Several Departments of the City Government of the City
of Lafayette, Indiana for the Fiscal Year Beginning January 1, 2022 and Ending December 31,
2022, Including the Outstanding Claims and Obligations and Fixing a Time When the Same
Shall Take Effect.) The Clerk read the following email into the record regarding Ordinance No.
2021-52:
There are so many other places that we could be using our resources, especially right now
during a deadly pandemic. Please reconsider allocating additional money to LPD and think of
how that money could be better spend investing in the future of our community such as programs
advocating for health, education, mental health, food security, and other vital service programs.

Ordinance 2021-53 (An Ordinance Fixing the Salaries of the Appointed Officers and Employees
of the City of Lafayette, Indiana for the Year 2022, Excluding the Sworn Protective Occupation
and Law Enforcement Members of the Police and Fire Departments.)
There was no public comment.
Ordinance 2021-54 (An Amended Ordinance Fixing the Salaries of the Sworn Protective
Occupation and Law Enforcement (POLE) Members of the Police and Fire Departments of the
City of Lafayette, Indiana, for the Year 2022.) There was no public comment
Ordinance 2021-55 (An Ordinance Fixing the Salaries of the Elected Officials of the City of
Lafayette, Indiana, for the Year 2022.) There was no public comment
Councilman Campbell moved to adjourn and Councilman Heide seconded. Meeting was
adjourned at 5:05p.m.
