Historic Preservation Commission Meeting Minutes August 26, 2019 7:00 p.m. Lafayette City Hall – Board of Works Room Commission Members in Attendance: John Burns, Julie Ginn, Shawna McCully, Patti Morgan, Sean Lutes, Glen Vick and Kurt Wahl Absent: Amy Paget Staff in Attendance: John Collier, Dann Keiser Guests: Dwight Morgan, Jr., Morgan Buildings and Land Noting a quorum, President John Burns called the meeting of the Lafayette Historic Preservation Commission to order at 7:02 pm. Approval of the July 2019 Minutes Kurt Wahl moved to recommend approval of the minutes of the July 2019 meeting. Shawna McCullly seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. New Business Public Relations and Education Committee report No report was made by the Public Relations and Education Committee. District Committee report No report was made by the District Committee. COA Committee report COA applications: 419 Main Street – Kurt Wahl, Chair of the COA Committee gave an overview of the project at 419 Main Street and stated that the COC Committee recommended approval of this project. While there is a lot work being done on the windows, most of the work is repair of existing windows which doesn’t require Commission approval. However, there are three window openings on the second floor on the south (back) side of the building that are currently boarded up with plywood that are being replaced with Marvin Magnum aluminum clad windows. The color will be antique bronze. Dann Keiser met with the building owner prior to the COA application and stated that the Commission has approved this kind of replacement window on other upper story window projects as they meet the Secretary of Interior standards. The property owner, Dwight Morgan, was invited to share any additional information or make any clarifications. He confirmed that the summary of the project was accurate. Patti Morgan recused herself from all discussion about this project. Following discussion among the remaining Commissioners, Sean Lutes moved to approve the COA as submitted for 419 Main Street. Shawna McCully seconded the motion. Patti Morgan abstained. The motion passed. 216 N Third Street (aka 340 Main Street) – Kurt Wahl gave an overview of the project to install a black, metal shelf to support condenser units on the north (alley) side of the building. The shelf will be approximately 9 feet above the alley. Anchors for the shelf will be installed into the mortar
