Approval of the Minutes John Burns moved to recommend approval ofthe August 28, 2023 (no September meeting) meeting minutes. Shawna Mccully seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. New Business Public Relations and Education Committee: No report District Committee: 1507 Ferry St. John Collier presented a petition from Erik and Sidney Bruce for designation of 1507 Ferry St. for inclusion into the existing Local Perrin/Cason St. Historic District. The Queen Anne structure was built around 1890. It is rated as "Contributing" in the Tippecanoe County Interim Report. Historic Preservation Officer, Dann Keiser, stated that it appears to have retained much of its original features. He believes it warrants local designation. Julie Ginn made a motion to recommend approval of the petition, Kevin Klinker seconded. The motion passed unanimously. 505 S 3rd St. John Collier presented a petition from Cyrus Giroir Ill, Rachaela DiRosaria and Chandra DiRosaria for inclusion of 505 S. 3rd St. into the existing Local S. 3rd Historic District. The Greek Revival structure is one of Lafayette's oldest churches, originally constructed in 1844 and was recently converted to residential units. The rear addition is not Greek Revival but may be old enough to be considered historic. The replacement Craftsman-style doors, although not consistent with the Greek Revival style of the structure, would not prohibit it from being locally designated. Julie Ginn made a motion to recommend approval of the petition, Alec Williams seconded. The motion passed unanimously.  COA Committee: Main Street Streetscape Phase V John Collier presented this application on behalf of the City of Lafayette. This is the final phase of the Main St. portion of the downtown streetscape projects. It includes new sidewalks and amenities between 8th and the mid- block east of 9th St. on Main St. and 9th St. from Ferry to Columbia. Only the portions on Main St. and to the alleys north and south of Main St. are within the Upper Main Local Historic District. The only thing that is different from previous phases of streetscape is the replacement of the existing glass block window well infills around Bison Financial at the SW corner of Main and 9th St. The existing glass block will be salvaged, lightly sandblasted to provide a skid-resistant surface, and then reinstalled in the same locations. It may also contain graphics in the crosswalk. Julie Ginn made a motion to recommend approval of the application, Alec Williams seconded. The motion passed unanimously. Staff Report: The City is pursuing a proposal from RQAW, an architecture and engineering firm, to update the historic structure survey for portions of the City of Lafayette. This work would be done in phases over a period of years. A letter of support for the Trinity United Methodist Church application for a Historic Preservation Fund grant was submitted to Indiana DNR on behalf of the HPC. Public Comment No public comments were received. Adjournment There being no further business to bring before the Commission, Kevin Klinker moved to adjourn the meeting. John Burns seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously, and the meeting of the Historic Preservation Commission was adjourned at 7:12 pm.
