February 19, 2025 Page 1 PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE The Pledge was led by Mr. John Linden SPECIAL PRESENTATION/REPORT: Palm Beach County Fire Rescue Chief William Rowley provided the data that the Commission had requested in the previous meeting regarding number of calls, response time and travel time. The Commission did not have questions. Chief Rowley stated that the annual report is forthcoming. 1. Proclamation in Honor of Cynthia L. Oziros Mayor Michaud presented Ms. Cynthia Oziros with a proclamation. Ms. Oziros thanked the Commission and staff. She stated that this was the best place she was ever placed to work. She said she would miss working with her Lake Park family. PUBLIC COMMENT: This time is provided for addressing items that do not appear on the Agenda. Please complete a comment card and provide it to the Town Clerk so speakers may be announced. Please remember comments are limited to a TOTAL of three minutes. -Mr. John Linden spoke about political signs in yards and requested that if the Town removes a sign that they write the address where they got it on the back of the sign. -Mr. James Sullivan spoke about parking on Evergreen and the need for an Ordinance limiting parking on one side of the street. He also spoke about hypodermic needles lying around. He stated that scooters and bikes have no lights or reflectors and it is dangerous. CONSENT AGENDA: All matters listed under this item are considered routine and action will be taken by one motion. There will be no separate discussion of these items unless a Commissioner or person so requests, in which event the item will be removed from the general order of business and considered in its normal sequence on the agenda. Any person wishing to speak on an agenda item is asked to complete a public comment card located on either side of the Chambers and given to the Town Clerk. QUASI-JUDICIAL PUBLIC HEARING (RESOLUTION): NONE PUBLIC HEARING(S) - ORDINANCE ON FIRST READING: NONE PUBLIC HEARING(S) - ORDINANCE ON SECOND READING: NONE TOWN ATTORNEY, TOWN MANAGER, COMMISSIONER COMMENTS: Town Attorney Baird had no comments. Town Manager Reade spoke about the Town’s annual grant making program. He stated that the Library will be hosting free tax aid on Saturdays and will also hold English language classes and a digital literacy program on Saturdays as well. He provided details about the upcoming Sunset Celebration. The Commission provided consensus for a proclamation for Florida Bicycle Month to be placed on a future agenda. Town Manager Reade spoke about the possible purchase of the 800 Park Avenue building and he announced the Oceana Coffee ribbon cutting on March 13th, time to be determined. Commissioner Hensley had no comments. Commissioner Thomas asked about the bike-along that was done in 2023 and suggested the Commission continue it this year. She spoke about the possibility of providing helmets to kids. Vice-Mayor Glas-Castro recommended having the event promoted by a third party so that the event doesn’t fall under a “Special Event” of the Town. Commissioner Thomas thanked Public Works and the Town Manager for their assistance with a complaint in the park. Commissioner Taylor had no comments. Vice-Mayor Glas-Castro announced that the Community Bike Ride for Florida Bicycle Month is Saturday March 22, 2025 at 2pm beginning at Town Hall. Mayor Michaud also thanked Public Works and all staff for everything they do. February 19, 2025 Page 3
