Airport User Group Meeting Minutes October 11, 2019 Present: Airport Authority –Barbara Pelisek, John Lodge, Chuck Clegg, Robert Ohlinger Others Present: Eric Farewell, Jon Stidwell, George O’Neill, AJ Goin, Mike Bauer, William Millette, Stephen Fletcher, Chris Garrison, Gene Hill Ginger Adelstone, FAA Safety Team Staff: Amanda Raabe, Interim Airport Manager; Jennifer Nanek, City Clerk Ginger Adelsone called the meeting to order. She introduced herself and distributed a sign-in sheet. Amanda Raabe gave update on the taxiway construction and said it was almost gone. By the end of the month it should be done. Check Clegg asked if there was more construction soon. Ms. Raabe said that nothing more will be done for awhile There was discussion about leveling the triangle piece of property and moving the fence. George O’Neill wants to give us the dirt to fill it in the area for paramotors to use. She has a meeting with him and others about this and ground leases on the 25th. This was discussed. Ms. Raabe announced that the campground will close in February. Amanda Raabe said that the purpose of this meeting is to establish new patterns to keep everyone safe. She asked for input and ideas. One person said that the triangle area works best for Aviator, Another said they are in radio contact with their group all the time. Amanda Raabe said some of the paramotors go all over the runway. Eric Farewell described the patterns his students uses. Chuck Clegg said that most of the issues are not from the school it is the outsiders. They will not adhere to any established patterns. The Paramotor patterns discussed. Ms. Adelstone said their patterns should be the same as a helicopter. Robert Ohlinger said there are suggested patterns but nothing is published. Amanda Raabe asked about mandating radios if that can be done locally. Ginger Adelstone said yes. Mr. Ohlinger expressed concern that it would be difficult to enforce. The possibility of mandating radios were discussed. One comment made was that no one should just be able to come here without staff knowing. Security concerns at Airport discussed George ONeill suggested a brochure with all the rules for new pilots. Amanda Raabe said she is working on this. Eric Farewell explained there are safety concerns with runway incursions. They are trying to encourage courtesy. Amanda Raabe said it has been a free for all. Everything needs to be safer. There was a question about Maintenance. Amanda Raabe said that she will put in a work order. She will email everyone on how they can put in work orders. Barbara Pelisek asked what patterns could be agreed upon. She asked about radio requirements. Amanda Raabe said we will look into it. John Lodge suggested that we need distance requirements included with patterns. The lock and security was discussed. Amanda Raabe explained how electronic gate works. Barbara Pelisek said she liked the ideas of a lock and brochure. Jon Stidham asked if he has to close the gate in front of other pilots. Amanda Raabe said yes. There was a discussion comparing the procedures of other airports. Jon Stidham recommended adding rules to website. George ONeill recommended that Eric Farewell share his stuff with Ms. Raabe for reference. Mr. Farewell agreed. Amanda Raabe said she wished skydivers would come to offer ideas about where to land. The skydivers landing was discussed. There were concerns about not flying over GrowHealthy plants. There are high security concerns which were discussed. One person recommended the skydivers announcing when jumpers in air There was a question about what we are getting in the new budget. Amanda Raabe said a tractor and bat wing. There will be no $30000 “golf cart”. Ginger Adelstone said she will review ideas with the FAA and report back at next meeting. A suggestion was made to improve the appearance of the airport. Amanda Raabe said they will get weekend warriors to help with our grounds. This was discussed The meeting concerning more hangars will be at the City Administration Building on October 25 1:00pm. The day and time of the next user group meeting was discussed. It was decided that the next meeting will be Sunday December 8th at 3:00 p.m.
