APPROVED VILLAGE OF LAKE ZURICH PARK AND RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD JUNE 8, 2010 1. Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 6:33 p.m. A. Swearing in of new board member Dawn Brazier President Branding swore Dawn Brazier in as the new Park and Recreation Advisory Board member. Roll Call: Present - Chairperson Judi Thode, Board Members Dawn Brazier, Jeff Carey, Michael Karija, Kathy Kozlowski, Mary Mihelic. Excused - Kevin Koch and Jan Papa. Staff present - Park and Recreation Director Perkins. 2. Approve of Minutes A. Park and Recreation Advisory Board Meeting April 13, 2010 MOTION made by Judi Thode, seconded by Jeff Carey, to approve the minutes of the April 13, 2010 Park Advisory Board as submitted. Voice vote, AYES have it. MOTION CARRIED. B. Village Board and Park and Recreation Advisory Board Joint Meeting May 11, 2010. MOTION made by Judi Thode, seconded by Mary Mihelic, to approve the minutes of the May 11, 2010 joint meeting as submitted. Voice vote, AYES have it. MOTION CARRIED. 3. Public Comments: - None 4. Items for Review/Recommendation: A. Moment of Silence for James Zarek, past Park and Recreation Advisory Board Chairman – Observed by the Board of Trustees on June 7, 2010 B. Needs Assessment and Open Space Master Plan Revision Director Perkins provided an update. He will prepare a RFQ (request for quotations) by the end of June for an architectural/engineering firm to perform the needs assessment and the open space master plan revisions. C. June is “Leave No child Inside” Month Judi Thode provided an update. She showed the new sign and said the Village has been promoting this initiative. Park and Recreation Advisory Board Minutes, June 8, 2010 2 5. Director’s Report: Director Perkins reported on the following items: • Web Trac (On-line Registration Computer Program) - Update and General Discussion. • Paulus and Breezewald Beaches – Beaches are now open. Discussion followed on using outside vendors for concessions. • Upcoming Special Events 2010 – Presented by Director Perkins. • Raingarden at Paulus Park – Construction is now in process. • Lightening Detection System –Estimated installation in mid July. • IRMA Playground Inspection – Will take place in August • Park and Recreation Month is July 6.
