APPROVED VILLAGE OF LAKE ZURICH PARK AND RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD SPECIAL MEETING – July 20, 2010 Park Tour The meeting was called to order at 6:10 p.m. ROLL CALL: Present – Chair Judi Thode, Vice-Chair Mike Karija Board Members, Dawn Brazier, Jeff Carey, Mary Mihelic, Jan Papa Excused – Kevin Koch Staff present - Park and Recreation Director Perkins and Trustee Sustich APPROVAL OF MINUTES: MOTION made by Mary Mihelic, seconded by Mike Karija, to approve the minutes of the June 8, 2010 Park Advisory Board as submitted. Voice vote, all in favor. MOTION CARRIED. PUBLIC COMMENTS: None ITEMS FOR REVIEW/RECOMMENDATIONS: A. Director Perkins advised that the Request For Proposal (RFP) is being prepared for the Open Space Master Plan(OSMP) Revision. This proposal would include a Needs Assessment Survey to be prepared and implemented. Jeff Carey asked if the existing OSMP and if park property disposition would be utilized in the revision. Director Perkins advised that both would be. Trustee Sustich advised that the categories with in the resolution for “July is Park & Recreation Month” to also be applied in the OSMP revision. DIRECTOR’S REPORT: • WebTrac was delayed to be installed and attain training from Spring/Summer to the Fall so it can be utilized in the Winter/Spring program offerings. This was a decision based on timing for busy seasons and because the Full-time Receptionist retired as of July 3. • Rain Garden in Paulus Park is complete and looks beautiful. The signage from Flint Creek Watershed was being completed and delivered soon and would be placed within the watershed area shortly after. • Lightning Prediction System was installed and active. Costs for the system were slightly higher than anticipated but the Park Improvement Fund covered the costs. Director Perkins showed to all present what the horn sounded like and where the control panel was at the Barn. Park and Recreation Advisory Board Minutes, September 9, 2008 2 PARK TOUR: Director Perkins gave tour of parks to show sites that had projects completed or sites for future improvements. Sites visited were – Zurites Park, Kuechmann Park, Manor Park, Whispering Creek Trail, Wicklow Parks, Old Mill Grove Park, Buffalo Creek Park, Countryside East Park & Soccer Field, Bristol Trails Park, Sparrow Ridge Park, Countryside West Park & Soccer Field, Staples Park, Oak Ridge Marsh Nature Park, Paulus Park, Braemar Park, Quail Run Park and Orchards Park. (not it that order) ADJOURNMENT: MOTION made by Mary Mihelic, seconded by Jan Papa, to adjourn the meeting. Voice vote, all in favor. MOTION CARRIED.
