APPROVED VILLAGE OF LAKE ZURICH Park & Recreation Advisory Board – Special Meeting Village Hall Board Room, 70 E. Main Street November 2, 2011 1. Call to Order at 6.32pm by Chairperson Dawn Brazier. 2. Roll Call: Chairperson Dawn Brazier, Jeff Carey, Kevin Koch, Mary Mihelic, Jan Papa and Judi Thode. Michael Karija was absent. Staff present: Director Mike Perkins. Chairperson Brazier announced a change in the agenda with item 6 being withdrawn and rescheduled to the 11/8/11 meeting. 3. Approval of Minutes: (Documents included in packet) Park & Recreation Advisory Board Meeting – October 11, 2011. Motion by Judi Thode, seconded by Jan Papa to approve the 10/11/11 minutes. Voice Vote: Ayes: 6, Nays: 0, Absent: 1. MOTION CARRIED. Director Mike Perkins presented a certificate of appreciation to Judi Thode for her service as Advisory Board Chairperson from June 2009 to May 2011. 4. Public Comments Dale Perrin, LZACC executive director, presented a check for $1200 from the proceeds of The Taste of The Town event in late August, to Dawn Brazier and Mike Perkins. Chris Roberti, 975 Brittany Road, Lake Zurich addressed the Board in regards the YMCA partnership. 5. Old Business A. Open Space & Recreation Master Plan – Review and Discuss Recommendations Director Perkins prepared a potential Capital Improvements Plan items (5yrs) and there was discussion about the items. Then Chairperson Brazier went through the Short Term priorities for OS&RMP Recommendations list which had A, B, and C priorities and the Board members discussed them. They also discussed the OSLAD grant and its timeline. Director Perkins answered the Board’s questions and concerns. Director Perkins went through the potential Capital Improvements Plan list. There was discussion about the agenda for the 11/8/11 meeting. 6. New Business A. YMCA Partnership Bob Vitas, Village Administrator Withdrawn from the agenda 7. Director’s Report A. Program & Special Events Update: $500 in revenue was made from the Monster Bash. Dir. Perkins thanked Bonnie Matheson and Monica Perry for their hard work on the Monster Bash. B. Girl Scout Project - Lauren Auster is doing three murals at Buffalo Creek Bldg A. C. Frisbee Golf Course Inquiry: There is interest for this sport, discussion followed. D. Tree Trimming Ceremony: Nov 26th at 4pm, there will be entertainment by the “Little People” and possibly a guest appearance by 9 year-old Roni Akurati, a Lake Zurich resident, who is performing in the Goodman Theatre’s notable holiday presentation of A CHRISTMAS in Chicago. Special Park and Recreation Advisory Board minutes, November 2, 2011 2 Director Perkins will be submitting the CIP plan to the Public Works on 11/3/11 for the Village Board meeting on 11/7/11 and the Special Board of Trustees meeting on 11/14/11. 8. Items attached (Questions/Discussion): A. Short Term Priorities for OS&RMP Recommendations (As of 10-11-11) B. Village of Lake Zurich/YMCA -Draft Memorandum of Understanding C. PIF Revenue/Expense Audit Reports (as of 10-28-11) D. General Fund P&R Dept Revenue/Expense Status Reports (as of 10-28-11) E. SRACLC Annual Financial Report – year end 4/30/11 9.
