APPROVED VILLAGE OF LAKE ZURICH TREE COMMISSION 505 Telser Road, Lake Zurich January 4, 2011 7:00 PM A. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Scott Garrison at 7 PM B. ROLL CALL-Present were Chairman Garrison, Members Tony Harper, Jim Mihelic, Mary Kozub and Village Liaison Shawn Walkington. C. PUBLIC COMMENT- None D. APPROVAL OF MINUTES – Commissioner Kozub motioned to accept the November 2, 2010 meeting minutes. Commission Harper seconded. Voice vote, AYES have it. MOTION CARRIED. E. OLD BUSINESS – None F. EMERALD ASH BORER PLAN- Chairmen Garrison brought a copy of proposed EAB plan for Arlington Heights. The Commission is going to review their plan and formulate plan for Lake Zurich at next meeting. The Village of Lake Zurich is applying for a grant that if received will give us $10,000 to use for planting of trees to replace ash trees removed. We will use money to plant trees along Old Mill Grove Rd, Surryse Rd, Pheasant Ridge Rd, Bristol Trails Rd, East harbor Dr and Lexington Ln. G. ARBOR DAY- Member Mihelic spoke to Linda Bauer, who does bird presentations, and she would be available for Arbor Day. Commission discussed areas in parks that plantings could be done. Commissioner Harper is communicating with schools on participation for Arbor Day. Member Mihelic is meeting with Chamber of Commerce to see about possible donations. H. TREE PROTECTION- Chairmen Garrison tabled till next meeting. He will contact Building and Zoning Director Dan Peterson to see if can attend. I. FORESTRY BUDGET- Liaison Walkington presented his proposed forestry budget. Proposed changes were changing Tree Planting from $17000 to $30,000, Contract Tree Removals from $5,000 to $15,000, Contract Tree Trimming from $0 to $25,000 and Spraying and Disease control from $500 to $5,000. I. NEW BUSINESS – Liaison Walkington told Commission that Village Administrator Vitas would like commissions input on 2011 Forestry Budget. Commission will discuss budget at next meeting J. ADJOURNMENT – MOTION was made by Commissioner Harper, seconded by Commissioner Rey to adjourn the meeting. Voice vote, AYES have it.
