APPROVED VILLAGE OF LAKE ZURICH TREE COMMISSION 505 Telser Road, Lake Zurich March 8, 2011 7:00 PM A. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Scott Garrison at 7 PM B. ROLL CALL-Present were Chairman Garrison, Members Tony Harper, Jim Mihelic, Toni Rey and Village Liaison Shawn Walkington. C. PUBLIC COMMENT- None D. APPROVAL OF MINUTES – Commissioner Harper motioned to accept the January 4, 2011 meeting minutes. Chairmen Garrison seconded. Voice vote, AYES have it. MOTION CARRIED. E. OLD BUSINESS – Chairmen Garrison asked if the proposed budget we talked about at last meeting had gone through. Liaison Walkington stated that no cuts have been made so far. Chairmen Garrison said we should be able for a Tree City Growth Award. F. EMERALD ASH BORER PLAN- Emerald Ash Borer was found in the Manor Subdivision on March 2. Commission discussed plans going forward to manage Eab. Chairmen Garrison had copies of EAB plan that he used in Arlington Heights. Commission agreed to use there plan as a template for Lake Zurich plan. G. ARBOR DAY- Park and Rec Chairperson Thode said Arbor/ Earth Day is in the Parks brochure. Also letters want out to Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops for volunteers. Commission discussed activities such as scavenger hunt, tree id, pruning demonstration and birds of prey exhibit. Commissioner Garrison and Liaison Walkington will put together EAB display and pick out trees for pruning demonstration. Commissioner Mehilic is still talking to business’s to get donations. Chairperson Garrison will be donating a tree for Arbor Day planting at Paulus. H. NEW BUSINESS – Commissioner Harper announced that he will be stepping down from the Tree Commission at the end of his term in April. I. ADJOURNMENT – MOTION was made by Commissioner Garrison, seconded by Commissioner Rey to adjourn the meeting. Voice vote, AYES have it.
