O. Tree Commission Agendas/

APPROVED VILLAGE OF LAKE ZURICH TREE COMMISSION 505 Telser Road, Lake Zurich September 13, 2011 7:00 PM A. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Scott Garrison at 7 PM B. ROLL CALL-Present were Chairman Garrison, Jim Mihelic, Toni Rey, Judi Thode, Mary Kozub and Village Liaison Shawn Walkington. C. PUBLIC COMMENT- None D. APPROVAL OF MINUTES – Commissioner Thode motioned to accept the August 2, 2011 meeting minutes. Commissioner Mihelic seconded. Voice vote, AYES have it. MOTION CARRIED. E. OLD BUSINESS- Commissioner Thode informed Commission of Echo Lake restoration meeting. There are 2 grants available and Commissioner Thode will be applying for one. Liaison Walkington updated commission on removal of dead trees on North Old Rand. Rand Rd Plan that was rejected by the Commission was approved by Plan Commission. F. TREE PRESERVATION- Chairperson Garrison met with Building and Zoning Director Peterson to discuss Tree Preservation. Director Peterson stated that there are 2 separate codes pertaining to preservation. Building and Zoning uses the land development code. One issue Director Peterson has is getting all departments on the same page on when and who will be doing inspections. Director Peterson stated that the village will be going to electronic tablets to document all their inspections. Suggestion was made to do training presentation on proper preservation techniques. Director Peterson also would like to see better definition for fines and penalties. Tree Commission will go over the 2 ordinances and make suggestions for changes and what they want to see on checklist. G. EMERALD ASH BORER – Commission had brief discussion on treatment of trees. Commission also discussed putting another article in Newsline to update residents and also updating info on Village Web page. Liason Walkington stated that village will start surveying trees by subdivision. H. NEW BUSINESS- Commissioner Kozub talked about Itree, an internet website that inventories trees. Plan Review- Spectrum Retirement- Plan was rejected by Commission. There was no existing tree survey and the landscape plan did not list what trees and bushes went at which location. I. ADJOURNMENT – MOTION was made by Commissioner Mihelic, seconded by Commissioner Rey to adjourn the meeting. Voice votes, AYES have it.
