CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 6:15 PM. II. APPROVAL OF AGENDA Motion was made and seconded to approve the minutes. IV. APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM 5/10/07 There was request for the minutes to be emailed to each member before approval. V. OLD BUSINESS A. Restaurant Update * Sandy askedabout a "hot buffet" at the Ramada currently being advertised. According to Jerry there is a new owner with whom the city has worked extensively with to bring the kitchen and equipment up to code. There liquor license issue has been resolved. "lmproving Our Quality of Life" * First Inn Gold has a Sushi Bar/restaurant. * Thai restaurant at Medicine Bow Co-op has done there permit work and are knowledgeable about the regulations according to Jerry. They have changed the vent system. * Discussion about the many new restaurants that have are opening or have opened (Turtle Rock, Perkins, Chili's, Bubba's BBQ, American Grill, Jimmy John's, Coal Creek, Starbucks, Carl's Jr., Convention Center, Marriott). Meeting Dates and Public Notice * Public notice of, at least, 24 hours must be provided prior to a BOH meeting. It must be provided on the City's website and to the Boomerang newspaper. @ Discussion about the frequency of regularly scheduled meeting resulted in determining that regular meetings will be held in January, April, July, and October on the third Thursday at 6:00. There will, also, be meetings on an "as needed basis" for emergencies. Judi will provide a monthly email update of activities. It was noted that there doesn't seem to be enough going on to warrant a regular monthly meeting. Election of Officers * Chairperson - Becki Burman * Vice Chair - Ron Mavrich * Secretary - Sandra Novick * Health Officer - Jean Allais Judi has completed ServSafe training to be an instructor and proctor. She is working with the University of Wyoming extension educator for Albany/Carbon County to provide "Going for the Gold" and ServSafe training for local food establishment employees and managers. She will attend, both, HACPP and Plan review training this spring. There I a Certified Pool Operators class scheduled for 4/18 & 4/19. Jerry suggested that a method of publicly acknowledging a food establishment's participation in training could be beneficial and "lmproving Our Quality of Life" reinforce safe behavior. He suggested running a congratulatory ad in the newspaper. The board agreed. E. Relationship between Board of Health and Environmental Health Specialist. * Supportive @ Work together when it is necessary to close an establishment * Meet jointly with the owner/manager of establishments being closed. * Work together to develop processes (forms). @ Sounding board. * Letters to offending restaurants F. How do the BOH and the County Medical Coordination Committee Coordinate? The answer was "they don't." Vll. MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS * Recruitment of new board member is necessary because of the resignation of Diane Esteve. Jerry Hankin will check the status of appointment to the BOH. * Sandra Novick asked for an update on the pigeon issue which appears to be worsening in downtown Lararnie. Jerry noted that the taxes have been paid on the Fox Theater and the city is moving fomard on evaluation of the structure. The Fox is a primary roosting place. Judi and Jerry have met with the Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Inspection Service (APHIS) twice since November. APHIS has received a small amount of grant money that is being targeted toward pigeon control in Laramie. In addition to the Fox Theater, pigeons are congregating at the Civic Center, Mountain Cement, University Stadium, and the Albany County Fairgrounds. Vlll.
