CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL Meeting convened at 6:15 PM Members present: David Milam (Chair), Sandy Novick, Beth Young Members absent: Jean Allais, Becki Burman There was a quorum present at all times. Staff Present: Jerry Hankin, David Clark, Mary Murrieta, Kathleen Wickersham City Council Liaison: Lee Kempert (present) 2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA AND MINUTES 2-A. AGENDA: Changes and Approval of Agenda for January 17, 2013 meeting. MOTION BY N OVICK, second by Young, to move agenda item 4-B. Ramada Inn, to be heard first under new business. Aye: 3 Nay: 0 Motion carried. 2-B. MINUTES: Thursday, November 15, 2012, Laramie Board of Health Minutes MOTION BY YOUNG, second by Novick, to approve the November 15, 2012 Minutes, as written. Aye: 3 Nay: 0 Motion carried. 3. DISCLOSURES None 4. NEW BUSINESS 4-B. Ramada Inn, Bar, Pool and Spa The Health Inspector provided the Board with a brief history of the Ramada Inn’s past inspections. She stated that the General Manager, Christopher Morimitsu, has immediately rectified minor inspection violations and continues to want to improve the facility. Murrieta conducted several inspections from the middle of November 2012 to the middle of January 2013, and sent a letter to the owner of the property outlining her concerns. Murrieta closed the pool noting the following concerns: no ventilation, resulting in dense fog, reduced visibility, and Laramie Board of Health January 17, 2013 Page 1 of 2  condensation in the pool room; unknown contaminates dripping into the pool from the roof; mold and vegetation growth in the pool area. She also closed the bar due to the floor drain overflowing into the bar walkway when hands were washed in the bar hand sink. The Building and Fire Inspectors also completed walk through inspections. The Fire Inspector gave Ramada Inn 14 days to correct the fire hazards. Murrieta presented a PowerPoint documenting violations and concerns of the inspectors. Christopher Morimitsu, the General Manager of Laramie’s Ramada Inn addressed the Board. He stated that the sewer piping in the bar area has been replaced and is currently working on the violations in the pool area. He thanked Murrieta and the Board for their willingness to work with him in bringing the establishment up to acceptable standards. 4-A. Review of Monthly Inspections i. November 9, 2012 – December 13, 2012 ii. December 14, 2012 – January 10, 2013 The Board reviewed and discussed the establishments on the two monthly inspection reports. OLD BUSINESS 4-C. FDA Standards Volunteer Program The invoice for the FDA’s $2,500 incentive for completion of Standard #2 was submitted for payment. 5. DATE OF NEXT REGULAR MEETING The next regular meeting is tentatively scheduled for February 21, 2013. 6. ADJOURN MOTION BY N OVICK, second by Young, to adjourn the meeting.
