Laramie Advisory Commission on Disabilities City Hall Council Chambers 5:00-6:00 pm Thursday, November 7th, 2019 Meeting Minutes Members Present: JoCarol Ropp, Marla Puett-Sandberg, Michelle Blakely, Sam Burkett, Michaela Rank, Emmalee Moore Members Absent: Nick Wiseman, Jerrica Becken, Mark Sparks Council Liaison: Erin O’Doherty Staff Liaison: Jasmine Parten Guest: Corey Walker Michaela called the meeting to order at 5:02 pm. I. ROLE CALL II. APPROVAL OF JULY MINUTES A. Jerrica makes motion to accept September minutes. B. Michelle seconds, with changes Emmalee recommended. C. Carried with voice vote. III. NEW BUSINESS: A. Jasmine stated that JoCarol and Michaela terms expired in October and are going through the process to renew their terms. B. Last year for Disability Awareness Month committee held a Wheel Chair Awareness day with Council, JoCarol recommended that the committee do something similar. It was decided that JoCarol would reach out to Todd Feezer to see if an obstacle course wheel chair event could be held at the Rec Center in March. Jerrica will contact food businesses that were nominated in the past to donate food for the event. Sam will contact Wind to see if they would be willing to come and will talk to WY Independent Living to see if they would like to partner. At the January meeting a date and time will be proposed. Michaela also asked members to start thinking of businesses that should be nominated for the upcoming year. IV. OLD BUSINESS: A. Sam attended the APRIL conference and said that Wyoming was well represented. He is hoping to attend the NCILs conference in Washington DC. B. Proclamation was done for Employment Disability Awareness Month. Michaela suggested next year combining the two. Erin suggested contacting Tony Coelho to see if he would be interested in doing a video. Corey said he would be willing to post information about the event at the high school. V. ADJOURNMENT 5:40 PM.
