I. ROLE CALL
II. APPROVAL OF FEBRUARY MINUTES
A. Jerrica makes motion to accept February minutes.
B. Emmalee seconds.
C. Carried with voice vote.
III. NEW BUSINESS:
A. The ADA Community Forum Discussion is supposed to be hosted on March 10th at
6:00 pm. Sam states he will not be able to attend but asks who will be able to go.
Marla and Emmalee both state they are planning to attend.
B. Paul updated the commission that the Public Library is not available. It will instead
be held at the Lincoln Community Center at 7:00 pm. WYSALE will be there as well
as WIND. There will be a general discussion and then those who attend will break
into smaller groups. Paul will lead if Mark is unable to. Paul will also take minutes.
JoCarol asked if anyone had reached out to the ARK. Sam said he would. Jasmine
said that Corey Walker could help out with the schools. WY State Advocates
Leadership in Cheyenne and Casper just held one of these forums. Sam said that there
are weekly meetings about issues that anyone can stop/Zoom in for. The next one is
March 23rd from 2:00 – 4:30 pm.
C. Paul asked the commission how they want to engage those who attend the group.
Suggested hosting the forum either one, two or three times a year.
IV. OLD BUSINESS:
A. JoCarol brought that LACD needs a place to store the equipment from Family Fun
Night. Jerrica stated that by partnering with companies it created a positive
experience. There was a good turnout. More people than was expected. JoCarol said it
was a great way to start positive conversations. The Rec Center said that there was
good interaction and that they would like to host it again next year on February 26th.
B. Erin mentioned that one of the obstacles was scary and people could tip over. Jerrica
stated that there has been an increase in participation for ADA activities and
suggested that we be a liaison for those participants. Paul said we should discuss that
at the forum. No one participated in Chair Yoga or Shallow Water Aerobics. Bingo
was popular but should be pulled into the gym next year.
C. JoCarol said we could follow the same concept for Freedom has a Birthday. Jerrica
suggested partnering with more agencies. Marla suggested applying for a grant.
Emmalee mentioned that it is important for kids to understand those with disabilities.
It was suggested to a puppet show. JoCarol thought it would be better for the summer
reading program at the Public Library and would reach out to them.
D. JoCarol suggested that everyone be at the June Council meeting to thank the
Curmudgeons and to show them support. Jasmine will let everyone know when that
meeting is.
