Laramie Advisory Commission on Disabilities City Hall Council Chambers 5:00-6:00 pm Thursday, September 3rd, 2020 Regular Zoom Meeting Minutes Members Present: Katie Harmon, Emmalee Moore, Jerrica Becken, JoCarol Ropp, Michelle Blakely, Sam Burkett, Michaela Rank Members Absent: Marla Puett-Sandberg Council Liaison: Erin O’Doherty Staff Liaison: Jasmine Parten Michaela called the meeting to order at 5:05 pm. I. ROLE CALL II. APPROVAL OF MARCH MINUTES A. Jerrica makes motion to accept March minutes. B. Emmalee seconds. C. Carried with voice vote. III. NEW BUSINESS: A. Mark Sparks had to step down from the commission and move out of state. The commission nominated Michaela as Chair and Jerrica as Vice Chair. Jerrica declined, so Katie was nominated. i. Emmalee makes motion to accept Michaela Rank as Chair and Katie Harmon as Vice Chair. ii. Sam seconds. iii. Carried with voice vote. B. Tabled Disability Awareness month until it is closer to March. C. Discussed promoting Disability Employment Awareness Month for October. Jerrica will work with Zenith to highlight them since they work with placing those with disabilities in the workforce. There will be a proclamation at the first Council meeting in October to raise awareness. Erin will reach out to Hits 106 to raise awareness about Disability Employment Awareness Month. IV. OLD BUSINESS: A. Community forum did happen. There was a good turn out and it was nice to break out into smaller groups to discuss issues in the community. It would be beneficial to have every year. Will discuss more when planning March Disability Awareness Month. B. Due to COVID all meetings will be conducted by Zoom until further notice. V. ADJOURNMENT 5:55 PM.
