City Council Special Meeting Minutes Monday, May 02, 2022, at 6:00 PM 27400 Southfield Road, Lathrup Village, Michigan 48076 1. Call to Order by Mayor Garrett at 6:00 p.m. 2. Roll Call Present: Mayor Mykale Garrett Council members: Councilmember Jennings, Mayor Pro Tem Kantor, Councilmember Kenez, Councilmember Miller, Present: Interim City Administrators, Pam Bratschi, Susan Stec, Chief Scott McKee, City Attorneys, Scott Baker and Leanne Kimberlin, Government Operations Assistant, Kelda London 3. Pledge of Allegiance 4. Approval of Agenda Mayor Pro Tem Kantor moved to approve the agenda; the motion was seconded by Councilmember Jennings. Yes: Jennings, Kantor, Miller, Garrett No: None Motion carried. 5. Public Comments for Items on the Agenda (Speakers are limited to 3 minutes) None 6. Action Requests - For Consideration / Approval A. B. Approval - Elevator Maintenance Expenditures Mayor Pro Tem Kantor motioned to approve the elevator maintenance expenditures, seconded by Councilmember Jennings. Yes: None No: Kenez, Miller, Garrett, Jennings, Kantor Motion denied. C. Proclamation - Mental Health Awareness Month Be it proclaimed D. Traffic Island Right-of-Way Maintenance discussion After discussion, the Council decided to have either the Recreation Advisory Committee or the Tree Committee develop a plan of action. E. City Administrator update Interim Administrator Stec updated Council on the posting of the open job postings. There will be repairs to the basement bathroom; the mold has been remediated. 7. Public Comment (speakers are limited to 3 minutes) Rick Williams, Meadowbrook – Infrastructure Greg Ruvulo 27641 Lathrup Blvd – Cost of tax dollars wasted Elaine Mantinan - Recreation Advisory Committee meetings. Removal of Councilmember Miller from the position of Southfield Public School Liaison. Andrea Bouchard – island Right of Way maintenance 8. Mayor and Council Comments Councilmember Miller congratulated Southfield Public School and the University High School in Lathrup Village. Among high schools in the Detroit metro area, they ranked number 8 and in high schools in Michigan, they ranked number 11. Corrections to the financial statement for Breakfast with the Bunny, expenses were listed as $902.81, they were actually $810.89, the correct loss was $377.74, not $622.81. Mayor Pro Tem Kantor and Councilmember Jennings secured 50 bike safety kits from the Southeast Council of Government (SEMCOG).
