Planning Commission Meeting Minutes Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at 7:00 PM 27400 Southfield Road, Lathrup Village, Michigan 48076 1. Call to Order at 7:05 pm 2. Roll Call Commissioners Present: Les Stansbery, Vice Chair Mark Dizik Bruce Kantor Alicia Powell Robert Tamarelli Staff Present: Susan Stec, Community and Economic Development Manager, Scott Baker, City Attorney, Kelda London, City Clerk Also Present: Eric Pietsch, Giffels Webster Engineering. Commissioner Kantor moved to excuse Chair Hammond and Commissioner Fobbs, seconded the motion. Motion carried. 3. Approval of Agenda Commissioner Powell moved to approve the agenda as presented, seconded by Commissioner Dizik. Motion carried. 4. Approval of Meeting Minutes A. PC Minutes 2023 04 18 Motion by Commissioner Kantor to approve the meeting minutes from April 18, 2023, motion seconded by Commissioner Powell. New Business A. Public Hearing - Special Land Use - 27701 Southfield (The Event House Public hearing opened at 7:08 No comments. Public Hearing closed at 7:09 B. Special Land Use & Site Plan Approval - 27701 Southfield Road (The Event House) Eric Pietsch of Giffels Webster presented a brief explanation of the conditions and description. Rob Krochmal from the Surnow company, along with the business owner, was available to answer any questions. There was a discussion on adding trees along the back of the property to extend a measure of goodwill to the opposing property owners behind the site, along with bringing the dumpster wall into compliance with the ordinance by adding 1 foot. Commissioner Kantor moved to approve the site plan for 27701 Southfield Road with the condition of placing an additional 30 feet of screening consistent with what’s there along the rear of the property and lowering the dumpster by 1 foot. Motion seconded by Commissioner Powell. Motion carried. Commissioner Kantor moved to recommend the Special Land Use for 27701 Southfield Road (The Event House) to City Council, motion seconded by Commissioner Tamarelli. Motion carried. 8. Oakland County Virtual Planners Gathering - June 14, 2023 DDA Director Susan Stec presented the commission with a virtual training learning opportunity from Oakland County.
