COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES
CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG
March 14, 2024
The Board of Mayor and Council met in regular session.
The following members were present: Council Member Sevier, Council Member Williams, and
Mayor Lay were present. Council Member Moore and Council Member Story were absent.
With a quorum present Mayor called the meeting to order. The meeting opened with Prayer and
the Pledge of Allegiance.
Motion to approve the February 12, 2024 minutes was made by Council Member Moore, with a
second by Council Member Sevier. Motion passed.
There was no one signed in to speak concerning the agenda.
LUS Financials for January, 2024 were accepted.
City Administrator, Dick McKinley, thanked Shane Eaton for getting a grant for the Fire
Department for equipment.
Fire Chief, Jay Moore, spoke in the Memorial going up on the First Baptist side of the Fire
Station. Also the Safe Haven Box is in at Station 1, after installation and testing it will be ready
to use.
Department Manager Report, was presented by Ali Cobb concerning the Main Street Downtown
Revitalization Grant. Over $248,000 Dollars will be spent on the buildings downtown, with the
merchants providing much of the funding for improvements

PUBLIC HEARING ON ORDINANCE 1392 was opened with no one wishing to address the
Council concerning Ordinance 1392 the Public Hearing closed.

AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NUMBER 789 ENTITLED THE “ZONING
ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE” – property belonging to
John Fleeman with a Positive recommendation from Planning Commission. Second Reading.
Motion to approve on Second Reading was made by Council Member Sevier, with a second by
Council Member Williams. Motion passed

AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO.1366 ENTITLED BUDGET
APPROPRIATIONS OF REVENUE AND EXPENDITURES FOR THE 2023-2024 FISCAL
YEAR FOR THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE GENERAL FUND Second
Reading
Motion to approve on Second Reading was made by Council Member Williams, with a second
by Council Member Sevier. Motion passed

Motion to approve was made by Council Member Williams, with a second by Council Member
of Sevier. Motion passed unanimously.

LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE TO REAPPOINT JUSTIN HOLT TO THE
LAWRENCEBURG HISTORICAL ZONING COMMISSION
Motion to approve was made by Council Member Sevier, with a second by Council Member
Williams. Motion passed unanimously.

LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE TO REAPPOINT MICHELE GANTZ; MAIN STREET
DIRECTOR TO THE LAWRENCEBURG HISTORICAL ZONING
COMMISSION
Motion to approve was made by Council Member Sevier, with a second by Council Member
Williams . Motion passed unanimously.
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LAWRENCEBURG POLICE DEPARTMENT TO ENTER INTO MUTUAL AID AGREEMENT
PURSUANT TO T.C.A SECTION 6-54-307 FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT WITH THE CITY OF
ETHRIDGE POLICE DEPARTMENT; CITY OF LORETTO POLICE DEPARTMENT; CITY OF
ST. JOSEPH POLICE DEPARTMENT; AND THE LAWRENCE COUNTY SHERIFF
DEPARTMENT
Motion to approve was made by Council Member Williams, with a second by Council Member
of Sevier. Motion passed unanimously.
A RESOLUTION FOR THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE TO CHANGE THE ROAD NAMED EAST BEASLEY TO
MOTIVATION DRIVE; AND CHANGE THE NAME OF BEECH
AVENUE TO MAGNOLIA LANE
Motion to approve was made by Council Member Williams, with a second by Council Member
of Sevier. Motion passed unanimously.
EMA Director informed the Council of the potential for high wind and high water around 3 AM
in the morning.
With no other business to come before the board a motion was made by Council Member Sevier
to adjourn with a second by Council Member Williams. Motion passed.
