COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG January 9, 2025 The Board of Mayor and Council met in regular session. The following members were present: Council Member Williams, Mayor Lay, Council Member Watson, Council Member Sevier and Council Member Moore. With a quorum present Mayor Lay called the meeting to order. The meeting opened with Prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance. Motion to approve the December 12, 2024 minutes was made by Council Member Williams with a second by Council Member Sevier. Motion passed. There was no one signed in to speak concerning the agenda. Mayor Lay welcomed Council Member Watson to the Board and proceeded with the nomination and election of Vice Mayor for the next two years. Jason Sexton received a Retirement award for 9 years of service to the Police Department. City Judge Ben Boston and Police Chief Terry Beecham praised him for his commitment to duty his service to the community. Shelton Barnett reported on a weather briefing to be held today at 1 pm on the impending winter storm. He did share the latest report and upon that Mayor Lay suggested we just close on Friday as the storm is predicted to hit early that morning. Mayor Lay also informed the Council that city offices will be closed Monday, January 20 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. LUS Financials for November, 2024 were accepted. City Attorney Betz presented the business to the Council. ORDINANCE(S) ORDINANCE NO. 1425 AN ORDINANCE FOR THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG FOR THE COLLECTION OF FEES FOR THE SALE AND DELIVERY OF HOUSEHOLD ROLL CARTS AND DUMPSTERS PROVIDED BY THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG SANITATION DEPARTMENT – Second Reading Motion to approve on second reading was made by Council Member Moore, with a second by Council Member Williams. Motion passed unanimously. RESOLUTION(S) A RESOLUTION FOR THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT TO SELL REAL PROPERTY LOCATED ON THIRD STREET TO LANDON SAUNDERS Motion to approve was made by Council Member Williams, with a second by Council Member Moore. Motion passed unanimously. A RESOLUTION FOR THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG, TENNESSEE TO AUTHORIZE THE LAWRENCEBURG PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT TO PURCHASE A NEW TRACKHOE FROM THOMPSON MACHINERY FOR USE BY THE LAWRENCEBURG PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT Motion to approve was made by Council Member Moore with a second by Council Member Sevier. Motion passed unanimously. Motion passed unanimously. A RESOLUTION FOR THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL TO APPLY FOR AND ACCEPT A GRANT FROM THE TENNESSEE ARTS COMMISSION FOR THE RURAL ARTS FACILITIES FUND REIMBURSEMENT GRANT TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE HISTORIC CROCKETT THEATER MANAGING DIRECTOR FOR PROJECTS CONCERNING THE CROCKETT THEATER Motion to approve was made by Council Member Moore with a second by Council Member Williams. Motion passed unanimously. With no other business to come before the Board a motion was made by Council Member Moore to adjourn with a second by Council Member Williams.
