HOOPER-RENWICK LEGACY PRESERVATION COMMITTEE MINUTES Tuesday, September 19, 2023 Third Floor GwMA Conference Room 6:00 PM 70 S. Clayton St, GA 30046 Call to Order Chairwoman Brown called the meeting to order at 6:07 pm after recognizing a quorum. 1. Opening Prayer Committee Member Maxey led the opening prayer. 2. Artifacts Update See notes in Mrs. Cammie Mansfield's project status update. 7. Project Status Update – Mr. Mark LeBlanc, Project Manager Mr. Mark LeBlanc reviewed photos of the construction site with the Committee. The hope is the library will be complete by late 4th quarter of 2024. 8. Project Status Update – Mrs. Cammie Mansfield Mrs. Cammie Mansfield shared a presentation of a few of the artifacts. There are currently 144 artifacts and some of them are: a sign from the Sally Craig homes, gym floor, yearbooks, diplomas, jewelry, trophy case, bench, items from Mt. Calvary UMC Church, piano, sewing machine, desk from the school, gym lights, control panel for the scoreboard, and sign from the school. There are also 36 oral histories.  Cammie shared that they are planning to have a couple of traveling exhibits to spread the word about the Hooper-Renwick Themed Library before it opens. One of the exhibits will be in Lawrenceville and the other one will be traveling around Gwinnett County. Committee Member Lott suggested that the exhibit should be taken to the local churches to increase awareness. New Business 9. Hooper-Renwick Exhibit for the Lawrenceville Arts Center Committee Member Brown Taylor gave the background on how the Hooper-Renwick display at the Lawrenceville Arts Center occurred. A photo of the display and the wording for the display are attached to the minutes. The Committee thanked Committee Member Brown Taylor for her dedication and hard work in coordinating the display.
