Jasmine Billings advised that Special Call meetings can be arranged if needed, and if there is nothing to discuss, a meeting can always be cancelled. The schedule will now go to Council for approval. Motion to approve the 2021 Lawrenceville Arts Commission meeting schedule was made by Commission Member Chitwood, Seconded by Commission Member Walden. Voting Yea: Commission Member Clark, Commission Member Chitwood, Commission Member Stone-Collins, Commission Member Walden, Commission Member Sanders, Commission Member Abuaisheh **It was determined that the 2021 meeting schedule did not need to go to Council for approval. With the vote taken above, the meeting schedule will be added to the website as presented. 4. Project for 157 North Perry Alleyway Discussion Chad Smith with CAS Architecture provided an update on the project and presented some additional ideas, including the business owners potential idea to add small shops with entrances off of the alleyway, to make it more of a destination location for people, and not just a pass through. Those shops would be approximately 600 square feet and would most likely be limited to two. He also presented an idea for a glass roof to provide cover from rain, along with some long term lighting ideas. He indicated that rain water would affect the area but can be fixed by sloping the roof and adding gutters. A roof would help keep a lot of water off of the walkway. There would be upkeep to the glass. There was a fountain shown in the rendering, and Commission Member Clark indicated that would be a trip hazard, due to the need for it to be low to the ground to avoid water splashing onto the walkway and with only 12 feet of width, it seemed to take up walking area. Commission Member Sanders felt that the immediate need would be to get a hard surface on the walkway, and adding some lighting since it is very dark at night. Chad will add lighting into his plans for the walkway surface to submit to Chuck Warbington to begin the approval process to complete this portion of the project. A panel will also be added to provide power for the lighting. Concrete and brick will be suggested to complete the work now, with the possibility of adding tile at a later time. Motion to approve Chad Smith to proceed with updating the walkway plans as discussed, including lighting, and submit to the City Manager was made by Commission Member Walden, Seconded by Commission Member Abuaisheh. Voting Yea: Commission Member Clark, Commission Member Chitwood, Commission Member Stone-Collins, Commission Member Walden, Commission Member Sanders, Commission Member Abuaisheh 5. Project for The Depot District Discussion Chad Smith with CAS Architecture indicated he had only done a little more work on this project. One idea he had was to try to use a similar language in The Depot, to be similar in design as the 157 North Perry Street project. Commission Member Clark advised he would like to see more ideas, and he would leave it up to Chad to provide them. With the Hilton building a hotel in town with a manufacturing-type theme, it was suggested Chad look at at how their design is in keeping with the design and history of Lawrenceville. Other Business Commission Member Sanders will put a document on Google Docs to help collect and share project ideas. This would help to collect "wish list" items to assist in brainstorming on what they would like to happen in Lawrenceville. She encouraged them to look around the city and identify locations and places that would be ideal for art projects. At the December meeting they can whittle down what projects they would like to do. It was noted that the city is a canvas, and they may need somebody to help identify places in the city that would be a good place for art since art can be messy and comes in a wide variety of costs. Those not comfortable with Google Docs can forward an e-mail to Commission Member Sanders. Chad Smith was thanked for all the work he has done so far with these projects. Commission Member Sanders introduced Kelly Robertson to the group. Kelly is the owner at Calvery Glass located in the Depot District. Citizens Comments Comments will be limited to 2 minutes per person. Art Commission members will not respond to comments. There were no citizen comments.
