The use of cellophane bags for vending machine items will also be reviewed after the machine has arrived and can be tested. Lawrenceville Blooms Mural Jasmine reported that she spoke with Teresa Abbourd regarding issues with the Lawrenceville Blooms mural. According to Teresa, the primary concern is the wall itself rather than the supplies used, continuing that moisture is being trapped within the wall, causing the paint to fade. She proposed sanding a portion of the wall prior to repainting to test whether the paint would adhere more effectively. Stone-Collins disagreed with the assessment that the wall is the issue and expressed the belief that the problem stems from the artist’s process, specifically mixing paint on-site. It was noted that the artist used non-sacrificial paint, which cannot be painted over and would require the mural to be completely redone. Chitwood stated that the artist’s proposal to repaint and wait two weeks was a waste of time and funding. At this time, Council expressed willingness to explore hiring another artist with greater experience and understanding of mural execution. Council requested that future mural contracts include updated verbiage requiring the use of a specific sacrificial coating and a detailed list of all materials to be used prior to project commencement. Chitwood suggested incorporating the natural wall issue into the mural design. Stone-Collins also researched potential solutions to provide alternative options for addressing the issue. Teresa was given a timeframe of mid-April to May to complete touch-ups in the areas outlined in a previous email. She will not need to hire additional assistance. The artist is also required to repair the smaller wall adjacent to the mural that was damaged due to a car accident. Citizen Comments Citizen Comments will be limited to two (2) minutes per person.
