RECAST ADVISORY BOARD MINUTES Wednesday, June 18, 2025 Third Floor GwMA Conference Room 6:00 PM 70 S. Clayton St, GA 30046 Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 6:01 pm; a quorum was recognized at 6:02 pm when the seventh member joined. Voting Yea: Board Member Brown, Board Member Lafalaise, Board Member Joseph, Board Member Martin, Board Member Dorsey, Board Member Davis, Board Member Lewis Annoucements Since our last meeting, members were invited to take a moment, pair, and engage around a connection question. A few members then shared conversation reflections. Public Comments To participate in the Public Comment part of this agenda, you must register with the Advisory Board Secretary before the beginning of the meeting. Presentations will be limited to two (2) minutes per person, and the Board will not respond to comments. No public comments were offered. General Discussion ReCAST General Program Update ReCAST Program Manager Marcus Thorne provided updates regarding: * Ongoing Request for Proposal (RFP) Projects, including the: * Year 4 Mini-Documentary -- (amplifying the outcomes and impact of the collaborative and aiding sustainability) – JComm Selected; project has begun * Photovoice Project -- (increasing student leadership and voice) – Vendor selection pending staff member return; choosing between two vendors * Youth-led Kingian Nonviolence Training -- at Central Gwinnett High School (increasing the youth-led training component of the grant) – RFP published; we have received vendor questions; final submissions due by 6/27 * Training Progress for "How Being Trauma-Informed Improves Justice System Responses." Gina Hutto of View Point Health continues progressing towards this deliverable while employing creative and strategic measures. Despite these efforts, training recruitment has been tough. * The Community Connections Workshop is progressing well. Lunch sponsors have been selected for three of four scheduled dates. Marcus is working to solidify one additional sponsor. * Progress toward the July 18 Together for Wellness Event is going well. The event, coordinated in collaboration with GUIDE Gwinnett, focuses on mental health wellness and will provide access and awareness of local vendors and supportive services. It will be paired with a Lawrenceville Movie Club Event, following the vendor fair and featuring "The Great Mouse Detective." * Additional Outreach -- Marcus was present in support of the City's Juneteenth event and initiated a meeting with Discovery High School to reengage two Community Connection Workshops for their students. He also expressed significant gratitude to board members Teonna Dorsey, Lovetta Lewis, and Nancy Martin for their help scoring proposals during multiple bidder selection processes. ReCAST Partner Update: Impact 46 / Lawrenceville Response Center Lawrenceville Response Center (LRC) Director, Katie Inks, shared a data update through quarter 3. Additionally, temporary housing vouchers will be available again through the LRC soon; these vouchers are anticipated to provide up to 90 days at an extended stay motel for those who are housing insecure. Summer of Impact is a summer internship program for local high school students; internships began on June 1. Some interns were hired beyond their summer internships and into the school year. Summer workshops were offered in conjunction with Summer of Impact and led by student leadership alumni. L3 received 90 applications and accepted 44 students. The number of applicants reflects a steady trend of strong student interest. Namira Chowdhury, newly hired program coordinator with Students46, was introduced. Other Business No other business was discussed.
