General Discussion
ReCAST General Program Update
ReCAST Program Manager Marcus Thorne provided updates regarding:
* Ongoing Request for Proposal (RFP) Projects, including the:
* Year 4 Mini-Documentary -- (amplifying the outcomes and impact of the collaborative and
aiding sustainability) – JComm Selected; project has begun
* Photovoice Project -- (increasing student leadership and voice) – Vendor selection pending
staff member return; choosing between two vendors
* Youth-led Kingian Nonviolence Training -- at Central Gwinnett High School (increasing the
youth-led training component of the grant) – RFP published; we have received vendor
questions; final submissions due by 6/27
* Training Progress for "How Being Trauma-Informed Improves Justice System Responses." Gina
Hutto of View Point Health continues progressing towards this deliverable while employing creative
and strategic measures. Despite these efforts, training recruitment has been tough.
* The Community Connections Workshop is progressing well. Lunch sponsors have been selected for
three of four scheduled dates. Marcus is working to solidify one additional sponsor.
* Progress toward the July 18 Together for Wellness Event is going well. The event, coordinated in
collaboration with GUIDE Gwinnett, focuses on mental health wellness and will provide access and
awareness of local vendors and supportive services. It will be paired with a Lawrenceville Movie Club
Event, following the vendor fair and featuring "The Great Mouse Detective."
* Additional Outreach -- Marcus was present in support of the City's Juneteenth event and initiated a
meeting with Discovery High School to reengage two Community Connection Workshops for their
students.
He also expressed significant gratitude to board members Teonna Dorsey, Lovetta Lewis, and Nancy
Martin for their help scoring proposals during multiple bidder selection processes.
ReCAST Partner Update: Impact 46 / Lawrenceville Response Center
Lawrenceville Response Center (LRC) Director, Katie Inks, shared a data update through quarter 3.
Additionally, temporary housing vouchers will be available again through the LRC soon; these
vouchers are anticipated to provide up to 90 days at an extended stay motel for those who are
housing insecure. Find the data update linked here: https://tinyurl.com/4fm7bs34
Students46 Program Manager, Kim Parson, also shared updates regarding student leadership
development. Summer of Impact is a summer internship program for local high school students;
internships began on June 1. Some interns were hired beyond their summer internships and into the
school year. Summer workshops were offered in conjunction with Summer of Impact and led by
student leadership alumni. Click this link to see more about the summer
