Meeting Minutes City of League City Zoning Board of Adjustments / Building and Standards Commission Regular Meeting, Thursday, September 1, 2022 City Council Chambers, 200 W. Walker Street, League City, TX 77573 1. Call to Order and Roll Call of Members Mr. Hendershot called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Present: Michael Hendershot, Tamara Gann-Curry, Katie Benoit, Russell Miller, Paul Lopez, Robert Kline (Alternate #2)* Absent: None * Mr. Hendershot activated Mr. Kline as an active voting member of the Board. City Staff: Kris Carpenter, Planning Manager; Mark Linenschmidt, Senior Planner, Michelle Villarreal, Assistant City Attorney 2. Approval of Minutes A. January 6, 2022 Mr. Miller moved to approve the January 6, 2022 minutes as presented. Ms. Gann-Curry seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously 5-0-0. 3. Citizen Communications No citizens spoke. 4. New Business A. Hold a public hearing and take action on a Zoning Board of Adjustments Application, VA-22- 0003 (220 East Walker Street), a variance request to Section 3.14.14.b. of the League City Unified Development Code (UDC) to allow a carport (an accessory structure) to be located in front of the principal building, on a property zoned “RSF-7” (Single-Family Residential with a minimum lot size of 7,000 square feet) on approximately 0.2996 acres, legally described as portions of Lots 4 and 5 (4-2) of the Ella Perkins Subdivision, generally located along the north side of East Walker Street, east of State Highway 3 South and west of Clear Creek Avenue with the address of 220 East Walker Street. Mark Linenschmidt, Senior Planner, gave a presentation on behalf of the City of League City. The recommendation was to approve the variance with the condition that the carport be located in the same approximate location as the existing carport. Mr. Hendershot asked if the Board had any questions for staff. There were none. Mr. Hendershot opened the public hearing at 6:06 p.m. Mr. Hendershot asked if there was anyone present that would like to speak. There were none. Mr. Hendershot closed the public hearing at 6:06 p.m. Mr. Kline made a motion to approve the request, subject to staff’s recommendation, VA-22-0003 at 220 East Walker Street. Ms. Benoit seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously 5-0-0. 5. Other Business A. Consider and take action on the Zoning Board of Adjustments / Building and Standards Commission meeting dates for 2023. Mr. Miller made a motion to approve the calendar for 2023. Mr. Lopez seconded the motion. The motion passed 5-0-0. 6. Staff Comments 1. Mr. Linenschmidt stated to the Board that staff has received indications that a request would be coming forth to the Planning Department and that a meeting might be held in October or November. 2. Mr. Linenschmidt stated that he would be sending an e-mail in the next few days to remind those Board members whose terms are set to expire at the end of the year about applying to be reappointed. The information would include links and the required documentation needed to submit to the City Secretary’s Office. 7.
