CITY OF LEOMINSTER CITY COUNCIL ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING JANUARY 6, 2025 CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS 5:30 P.M. Call to order by City Clerk The City Clerk called the meeting to order at 5:30 PM. Roll Call of Members Councillor Angelini, Councillor Ardinger, Councillor Bodanza, Councillor David Cormier, Councillor Pauline Cormier, Councillor Tocci, Councillor Freda Present. Absent: Councillor Chalifoux-Zephir, Councillor Robbins Others present: Elizabeth Doiron, City Clerk, and Maribel Perez, Assistant City Clerk. Election of Council President Councillor Angelini made a motion to nominate Ward 4 Councillor Mark Bodanza for City Council President. Councillor Pauline Cormier seconded the motion. The City Clerk asked if there were any other nominations. Councillor David Cormier made a motion to close nominations. Councillor Angelini seconded the motion. The motion was carried by a vote of 6-1. Councillor Freda, nay. Councillor Bodanza was elected City Council President for 2025 by a vote of 6 to 1. Election of Vice-President Council President Bodanza opened the nominations for Vice-President. Councillor David Cormier nominated Councillor Pauline Cormier for Vice President. Councillor Ardinger seconded the motion. Councillor David Cormier made a motion to close nominations. Councillor Angelini seconded the motion. By a vote of 6-1 nominations were closed. Councillor Pauline Cormier was elected City Council Vice President for 2025 by a vote of 6 to 1. Councillor Freda, nay. Adoption of Council Rules Councillor Freda expressed that the City Council tried 3 times to add a code of conduct to the City Council agenda and it was not allowed. Councillor Freda asked if the Council could postpone the adoption of the rules to the next meeting. President Bodanza asked Councillor Freda is she was ok with ratifying the rules are in existence tonight. President Bodanza also stated that the rules are always subject to amendments. Councillor Freda replied that as long as President Bodanza will allow it on the agenda. President Bodanza stated that he make an analysis of the item once Councillor Freda files it. He also stated that he will treat the item fairly as he does with all other items. Councillor David Cormier made a motion to ratify the Council Rules as is. Councillor Pauline Cormier seconded the motion. The motion carried by a 6-1 vote. Councillor Freda, nay. Appointment of Legal Counsel Council Vice President Pauline Cormier informed the City Council that Attorney Madaus was under the impression that when he agreed last yar , it would be for a 2-year term but she will confirm with him and follow up accordingly. President Bodanza stated the Council will post pone the formal vote on the appointment of legal counsel until the January 13, ,2025 City Council Meeting. Committee Assignments President Bodanza stated the assignments of the committees will not change from the prior term. President Bodanza asked that the City Clerk update the date on the assignment committees to the upcoming year. Councillor David Cormier made a motion to adjourn. Councillor Pauline Cormier seconded the motion. The meeting adjourned at 5:40pm.
