LEVAN TOWN PLANNING COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING August 2, 2023 7PM 1. Opening Business: Welcome by Alan Paystrup Invocation: Alan Paystrup Pledge: Barbara Anderson Present at Meeting; Alan Paystrup - Planning Commission Chairman, Barbara Anderson – Planning Commissioner, Christine Carrigan – Planning Commissioner, Bruce Rowley – Mayor Meeting Recorder – Judy Smith. Also present: Rachel Goates 2. Action Items: a. Approve minutes for May 3, 2023, Regular Meeting Motion to approve the minutes made by Christine Carrigan. Motion seconded by Barbara Anderson. All in favor, motion carried. b. Building Permit Applications: No new home applications. 3. Reports: Office issued permits: Fence – Mike Royce Reroof – Mike Kramer Reroof – Darlene Kimball 4. Discussion Items: Alan Paystrup said there is a fence permit application in the office that he reviewed. The proposed fence would run along city property and the setbacks needed to be checked. Alan spoke with the applicant, Triston Worwood, and reviewed the proposed fence location with him. Alan said he was willing to sign off on the application.  The commission briefly discussed changing the wording of the fence permit application to include a statement that any fences erected in violation of the ordinances would be removed at the owner’s expense. Mayor Rowley asked about reviewing ordinances about the time frame requirement for building a home. A resident asked him about building a home that might take more than a year. The commissioners agreed to investigate the ordinances regarding building timeframes. The Mayor and Planning Commission discussed the need to review and update the ordinances posted on the town website. The Planning Commission will schedule a work session in the coming months.
