The City has allocated $45,000 in the 2024/2025 budget to be distributed to nonprofit 501(c)3 organizations that strengthen the City's key priorities in the following areas: o Children o Elderly o Housing o Parks & Recreation o Public Safety o Safety Net o Tourism o Transportation Application Dates Applications will be accepted from January 15, 2025 to February 15, 2025. Meals are delivered by a Community Champion (volunteer) that offer a human connection for seniors who are often isolated and lonely. They make sure wheelchair paths are clear and give our clients the ability to age with dignity and without fear of going hungry. We also provide brain games, educational material, and hygiene kits to our home delivered clients. The program not only meets a basic need, but also provides a much-needed socialization component that combats the isolation that is often experienced by seniors who live alone, are homebound, have limited resources, and who are unable to shop or prepare meals for themselves or a loved one. These factors directly affect the physical, mental, and emotional health of our seniors. Our no-cost services include: • Crisis Support: 24/7 hotline, crisis chat, and safety planning. • Advocacy: Accompaniment to court, hospitals, and law enforcement, along with legal assistance. • Emotional Support: Individual, family, and group counseling. • Basic Needs: Shelter, meals, clothing, toiletries, and transportation. We also provide community education to prevent violence and raise awareness about its impacts. Clients can receive up to 12 free counseling sessions with licensed counselors to set goals, process trauma, and develop coping skills for managing anxiety, depression, or PTSD. For shelter residents, we provide essentials and collaborate with advocates to address critical needs, including safety planning, enrolling children in school, job searches, housing assistance, and filing protective orders. Research underscores the urgency of our mission: children exposed to domestic violence face an increased risk of experiencing or perpetuating violence in their own relationships—a phenomenon known as the intergenerational transmission of violence (Narayan et al., 2014). Additionally, in 2023 the team placed 5th in FASA World Series in Hot Springs Arkansas Notable recent accomplishments include winning the 2024 NCS Valentine's Bash and Easter Bash tournaments and placed 2nd in the CSEINC 5th Annual Aggieland Classic. Thanks to a generous $5,000 contribution from the Liberty Hill ISD Education Foundation in September 2024, 51 students were awarded scholarships to attend academy sessions of their choice, but those funds have now been depleted. The majority of these scholarships were utilized by students from campuses within the city limits, reflecting the socio-economic needs of these communities. Of the 51 scholarships awarded, 29 went to students residing in the city limits of Liberty Hill. In the 2023-2024 school year, we provided enrichment opportunities to over 1,300 students ranging from Pre-K to 12th grade, across two sessions. Out of these 1,300 students, 51 received scholarships, with 33 of them coming from the city limits of Liberty Hill. During the 2022-2023 school year, we hosted three sessions of academy courses, serving a total of 2,240 students. Although our scholarship fund was limited to $2,000, we were able to provide 20 scholarships. Sixteen of these scholarships were awarded to students attending campuses within the city limits of Liberty Hill. We are specifically requesting funds for the Mustard Seed Project to expand our hands on educational initiative, where we teach sustainable food growing practices to our young entrepreneurs and the youth of our community at our markets, from our gardens. Participants gain valuable real-life experience in a welcoming and supportive environment, learning about product development, sales, customer interactions, change-making, and financial literacy. Last season, we launched the Mustard Seed Project with the grandchildren of one of our long-time vendors. This project aims to share peer-to-peer experiences in sustainable food growth, starting with seed harvesting. By integrating agriculture education with entrepreneurship, we envision creating self-sufficiency and bringing our food gardens full circle into Liberty Hill"s food economy.
