The annual Library Halloween Party was a great success with at least 450 attending. The Library participated in the first Indie Author Day, held nation-wide for the first time this year, by offering a slate of speakers and 7 programs for new authors on October 8th. LEGO Creations: STEM program geared to younger children. October 1st. November Events The Friends of the Library will hold their annual Book Sale on Friday & Saturday, November 18th and 19th. The library will be closed on the 11th for Veteran's Day and for Thanksgiving on the 24th - 26th. It will open at 1 PM on Thursday, November 17th due to the quarterly staff meeting. Children’s Programs Special Thanksgiving Story times on November 23rd @ 10:30 STEM-tacular Saturdays: the Library resumes offering once a month STEM class on Saturdays for children 8 years old and up. The classes will be offered November through May. Participants must pre-register and a materials cost recovery fee will be charged. Teaching will be done by city staff and community volunteers. November program, Ozobots, November 5 at 1:30. Nerf Wars: Friday, November 4th 6 – 7:30 pm. WHEREAS, the City of Liberty Lake desires representation on the Spokane Transit Authority Board of Directors in order to represent the interest of the citizens of Liberty Lake; and WHEREAS, the City has approved Resolution No. 02-40 which adopted and confirmed a schedule of representation between the cities of Airway Heights, Cheney, Liberty Lake, Millwood, and Medical Lake within the Public Transportation Benefit Area; and WHEREAS, on January 5, 2016, the Liberty Lake City Council adopted Resolution No. 16-202, appointing Councilman Keith Kopelson as the City of Liberty Lake Representative to the Spokane Transit Authority Board, with Mayor Steve Peterson as alternate; and WHEREAS, Councilman Kopelson resigned his position with the Liberty Lake City Council, effective May 31, 2016; and WHEREAS, Councilman Odin Langford is willing to fulfill former Councilman Kopelson’s remaining term to serve as the City of Liberty Lake Representative to the Spokane Transit Authority Board. NOW, THEREFORE, it is hereby resolved by the City Council of the City of Liberty Lake, Washington as follows: Council Member Odin Langford shall replace former Councilman Kopelson and is hereby appointed as the City of Liberty Lake Representative to the Spokane Transit Authority Board for the remaining term through December 31, 2017.
