Community Engagement Commission Minutes
June 15th, 2022- 6:00 PM
CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting of the Community Engagement Commission was called to order on June 15th, 2022 at 6:00 PM.
The May meeting minutes were unanimously approved with amendments recommended.

PRESENTATIONS:
Publiclnput Online Resource— Alex Barrett presented with Sophie Bitar and Graham Stone to provide infor
mation regarding Publiclnput and how it might best serve the City and the commission. Their service aims to pro
vide the commission with the ability to reach residents and understand their input to better serve the community.
After the presentation, the commissioners asked questions ranging from the software’s ability to function along
side current software the City utilizes, and how it could be shown on the City website so residents could see re
sponses in real time. The commissioners continued to ask questions and receive information from the Publicinput
presentatnn group.
GENERAL BUSINESS:
Community Engagement Commission Role— The commissioners went around and individually described their
reasoning for joining, and their desired purposes and roles of the commission going forward.
Calendar of Events— Commissioner Saba created a draft calendar of events for opportunities the commission
ers can take part in. or assist with the advertisement of if they choose. For example, there is an opportunity for
the CEC to man the Rock Painting booth with the Parks and Arts Commission at the Barefoot event.
Farmers Market— The commission briefly went over scheduling availability for the upcoming Farmers Market
dates. Attendants for upcoming market dates were established.
Chair! Vice Chair Elections— David Goehner recommended keeping Chair and Vice Chair voting to calendar
year elections, which would reflect commissioner terms. The motion was made for current terms of Chair and
Vice Chair to run through December of 2023, by Commissioner Saba. Commissioner Christensen seconded the
motion, which then carried unanimously.
Commissioner Saba made the motion to flip a coin, should the decision be a tie. Commissioner Christensen se
conded the motion, which then carried unanimously.
After a brief round of nominations for Chair and Vice Chair, the results are as follows:
Chair: Commissioner Robin Bekkedahl
Vice Chair: Commissioner Summer Darrow
NEW BUSINESS:
The commission briefly discussed general opportunities of engagement with other commissions, including possi
bly assisting with future Parks and Arts Commission murals or projects.
CITIZEN COMMENTS:
No citizen comments were made at this meeting.
NEXT UPCOMING MEETING:
The next meeting of the Community Engagement Commission will be July 20th, 2022 at 6:00 PM.
ADJOURNMENT:
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:40 PM.
