THE CITY OF LIBERTY LAKE PARKS & ARTS COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES JUNE 5TH, 2023 - 4:00 PM CALL TO ORDER: Commissioner Hill called the meeting of the Parks and Arts Commission to order at 4:00 PM on June 5th, 2023. Director: Jennifer Camp Position $5: Laura Frank Present Administrative Assistant: Tait Hunter APPROVALS: Commissioner Hill opened discussion regarding the May 5th meeting minutes. Commissioner Frank motioned to approve the minutes as they were presented. Commissioner Himebaugh seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. CITIZEN COMMENTS: Mark Saba, resident and Community Engagement Commissioner, spoke regarding collaborative opportunities be- tween the two commissions. UNFINISHED/ NEW BUSINESS: SVT Storywalk Update– SVT Students Students from SVT presented the 2022-2023 SVT Story Stands progress to the commissioners. They went over the budget, current photos of the stands in progress, and went over the learning curve of this specific round of Storywalk stands. They concluded by answering commissioner’s questions, and lining out an estimated final date for completion. ‘Our Town’ Application & Webinar Jennifer Camp briefly went over the upcoming webinar for the Our Town grant application process. Commission- ers are invited to attend. Update on CEC Meeting– Nancy Hill Commissioner Hill discussed her experience at the most recent CEC meeting. Community Engagement Commission Community Engagement Commissioner, Robin Bekkedahl, spoke to the commission regarding opportunities for joint engagement. She participated in general discussion with the commissioners. ACTION ITEMS/ DISCUSSION/ PRESENTATIONS: Vote on Selected Mural Art– Hooptown Mural The commissioners went over the two candidates, and unanimously voted to choose a mural for the Hooptown project. ACTION ITEMS/ DISCUSSION/ PRESENTATIONS CONTINUED: Skate Park Art Potential The commission briefly discussed the possibility of pursuing an art project for the skate park. Not vote was taken. Spokane Symphony 2023 Agreement Jennifer Camp went over the proposed agreement for the 2023 Symphony event. Commissioner Hill proposed the commission vote to approve the agreement, which carried unanimously. Vote to Reschedule July Meeting The commission unanimously voted to move the meeting to July 10th in observation of the holiday on July 4th. Rotating Art Wall at Trailhead Jennifer Camp went over the proposal to have changing art at the new Trailhead facility. There are a few spots where pieces could go, and the commission discussed the possibilities for those locations. Budget and Strategic Plan The commission concluded the meeting by going over the budget and strategic plan. Jennifer Camp went over the updates to the budget, and the commissioners discussed areas of possible change or improvement. UPCOMING MEETING: The next meeting is scheduled for July 10th , 2023 due to the holiday on the 4th. ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at approximately 5:15 PM.
