Minutes of Fire Commission Meeting September 12, 2011 Present: Carl Peeters, Dick Schevers, Bill Verhagen, Scott Schommer, Pat Nikolay, and Fire Chief Bob VandenHeuvel The meeting was called to order at 5:45 pm. The minutes from the May 9, 2011 meeting were reviewed and approved (Dick so moved, Bill seconded, all ayes). Old Business Bob VandenHeuvel reported that the new hires who were approved conditionally at the May 10, 2010 meeting took their tests; 5 passed and 2 did not. A motion was made to make a final non-conditional approval for the five who passed the state certification test and two pending; all ayes. Bob stated that the Fire Department is in good shape with 44 members (1 other member may take a full time job as a fire fighter). New Business Bob reported that he has applied for two grants: one for a new ladder truck under the Homeland Security Act and one for new radios to adapt to the county’s new communication system. The meeting was adjourned at 6:07. Next meeting: ***Note change of date, due to members’ other commitments, to November 7, 2011.
