Minutes of the Meeting of the Kimberly-Little Chute Public Library Board July 18, 2017 The meeting was called to order at 4:35 p.m. by President Moes at the Gerard H. Van Hoof Library, Little Chute. PRESENT: Dave Hietpas, Jim Moes, Kathii Schommer, David Peterson, Lori Vanderloop. EXCUSED: Phil Yunk, Amanda Fletcher, Rose VanderVelden. OTHERS PRESENT: Steve Thiry, Ann Hardginski MINUTES AND INVOICES Schommer moved, seconded by Lori Vanderloop, to approve the minutes of the April, 2017 meeting. Motion carried. Lori Vanderloop moved, seconded by Schommer, to approve the April bills. Motion carried. The April financial and statistics reports were discussed. NEW BUSINESS Moes moved, seconded by Hietpas, to approve the hour extension to open at 9am at both locations and extend Saturday hours for Little Chute year round to be implemented as determined possible by the director. Motion carried. Cheesefest grants were discussed – no action taken DIRECTOR’S REPORT Thiry informed the board that the Adult Services position had to be reopened due to the candidate accepting another position with larger salary. RFID investigation continues and he anticipates a proposal will be brought to the next meeting of the board. Thiry was selected for the Wisconsin Library Association’s Leadership Development Institute taking place August 9th – 11th. He has been awarded a $300 scholarship for the course. YOUTH REPORT Hardginski reported that the Summer Library Program continues to run smoothly. The first goal of 15,000 hours was reached to equal a $300 donation to Habitat for Humanity, Goal is now 25,000 hours for $900/$1000. There has been good attendance and feedback on programs. Lego Fridays had 55 attendees. Upcoming programs include Pages in the Park on August 1, crafts with the Learning Shop on August 4, Boss Baby movie on August 8, Kahoot teen trivia on July 31. In July and August—library pen pal station • Sending letters to different libraries across the country: Chicago, KY, CO, NC, PA. 8 teens made 16 blankets for veterans, 23 attended Movie and Pizza. Ann completed a labeling project at both locations in the children’s non-fiction with general subject labels to help kids find and discover subjects easier. Jill is developing a teen writing group to start in October. Jill has two books published. ADJOURNMENT Hietpas moved, seconded by Schommer to adjourn the meeting at 5:30 p.m. Motion carried.
