LODI CITY COUNCIL SHIRTSLEEVE SESSION CARNEGIE FORUM, 305 WEST PINE STREET TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 2019 The Informal Informational Meeting ("Shirtsleeve" Session) of the Lodi City Council of Tuesday, September 24, 2019, was cancelled due to lack of a quorum. An informal presentation was made on the topic - Receive Information and Visit The Village: Adult Developmental and Community Center at Lodi Transit Station Parking Structure Office Space, Located at 25 East Pine Street - with background materials on file in the City Clerk's Office. In addition to receiving a tour of The Village by Kathy Piazza, Matt Teresi provided a tour of the Lodi Adopt-A-Child facility at 100 East Pine Street. Ms. Piazza and Mr. Teresi shared the vision of opening a second center to provide service to some of the individuals who will be displaced by the closure of the Lodi Activity Center on Cherokee Lane, which is run by the Lodi Unified School District. The hope is to utilize space at the Lodi Adopt-A-Child facility if the City is willing to entertain the concept through its lease agreement for the site. City Manager Schwabauer explained that, the lease for the building expires in May 2020, and because there is more than one party interested in the facility, the City will prepare a Request for Proposals, the process for which could start as early as November and conclude in January 2020. ATTEST: Jennifer M. Ferraiolo City Clerk 1

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: On March 7, 2018, the Lodi City Council Authorized the City Manager to execute a market rate lease agreement with The Village: Adult Developmental and Community Center (The Village). The Village currently serves over 20 adults with intellectual and developmental special needs through an adult day care and community center at the Lodi Transit Station Parking Structure. Prior to The Village, the space was utilized by the Administration Staff of the Lodi Fire Department. The Transit Station Parking Structure was an attractive location because of its proximity and access to public transportation. The person-centered program works with each member’s family and their caregivers to create a meaningful daily experience while developing functional skills in a community-based environment. This is an opportunity for the City Council and the public to visit The Village and to observe how this public/private partnership is working together toward improving life for those with special needs in our community. The shirtsleeve meeting will be held at The Village: Adult Developmental and Community Center located at 25 East Pine Street. FISCAL IMPACT: Not applicable. FUNDING AVAILABLE: Not applicable. _______________________________ Charles E.
