Approximately 1,000 students are expected to attend. Commissioners shall discuss the event details and recommend changes based on last year's Event. The commissioners have mentioned it several times in past meetings, so now it is time to implement the event for all students. In collaboration with the Library's Teen Advisory Board, we hosted a "Teen Poetry Slam" on April 21, 2023, at Hutchins Street Square The poetry event was from 6 pm to 8 pm, in the Thomas Theater. The Poetry Slam called for all aspiring teen writers, creative artists, speakers, rappers and poets to reveal their inner voices. The Poetry Slam is meant to celebrate teens, literacy, and poetry appreciation. There was cash prizes given to the best poet. During this regular meeting we will discuss if the LYC wants to host the Poetry slam again. Discussion Items: • Do we want to host this event again, with so many other activities that they have planned for the 23-24 school year? • Time frame • Effort • Collaborate with the Library again FUNDING CONSIDERATION OR IMPACT: None
