Motion was seconded by Commissioner Aubrey. The 2023 Pigskin dance will be held on November 18, 2023, from 8pm to 12am. Approximately 500 couples are expected to attend. The Pigskin dance is open to all Lodi Unified School District students between the ages of 13 and 19. Commissioners shall discuss the following event details: • Outstanding items for 2023 Pigskin dance • Student Requirements: ID, valid email, and friends purchasing bids for other friends • Decorations • Bids sales • Set-Up and clean-up times • Volunteers. time, and assignments FUNDING CONSIDERATION OR IMPACT: None GREATER LODI AREA YOUTH COMMISSION COMMUNICATION TO: Greater Lodi Area Youth Commission DATE OF MEETING: November 13, 2023 FROM: Rachel Sandoval, Recreation Manager SUBJ: Review Details of Sadie Hawkins Dance TYPE ACTION NEEDED: Discussion and Approve PREPARED BY: Rachel Sandoval, Recreation Manager RECOMMENDED ACTION: Review details of the Sadie Hawkins Dance BACKGROUND INFORMATION: At the regular meeting of the Lodi Youth Commission, they decided to host a Sadie Hawkins Dance. It will be held on February 16, 2024. The Sadie Hawkins Dance will be held at Hutchins St. Square in Kirst Hall. The dance will be opened to all Lodi Unified School District students between the ages of 13 and 19. Items for the Commissioners to discuss: • Bid prices per person or per couple • Can food drive for discount • Decorations • Time • Theme • Attire • DJ and Photo Booth • Volunteers and assignments FUNDING CONSIDERATION OR IMPACT: None GREATER LODI AREA YOUTH COMMISSION COMMUNICATION TO: Greater Lodi Area Youth Commission DATE OF MEETING: November 13, 2023 FROM: Rachel Sandoval, Recreation Manager SUBJ: Teen Game Night TYPE ACTION NEEDED: Discussion PREPARED BY: Rachel Sandoval, Recreation Manager RECOMMENDED ACTION: Make decisions on the various outstanding items for Teen Game Night (formerly Casino Night) BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Casino Night was held on Friday, March 3, 2023, at Hutchins Street Square. Due to the nature of the event, its title and its reference to gambling, the Commissioners decided to change the name of Casino Night to Teen Game Night, which will be held March 23, 2024. We would like all teens in high school to be aware of this fun event so they can attend. We will seek to get LUSD approval to hang up posters in all LUSD High schools and advertise through LUSD’s Peach Jar. They will offer free swim lessons to 9 non- swimming youth in Lodi as a Community Service Project. This community service project will teach hands on life saving skills. “Students Teaching Students to Swim”. This community service is greatly needed in Lodi and the surrounding areas. The Lodi Area Youth Commission will raise awareness through their participation. Discussion on the following: • Day to begin the swim lessons, Saturday or Sunday • Length of time to teach the lessons, 1 -2 hours depending on which day is chosen • Observation of current swim lessons going on so they know what techniques to start with • Receive lesson from our Aquatics Coordinator, Andrea, on life jacket safety • Students Teaching Students to Swim slogan for t-shirts FUNDING CONSIDERATION OR IMPACT: None
