F. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Trustee Dalebout motioned, Trustee Melton seconds. Motion Carries. G. COMMENTS BY THE PUBLIC, LIBRARY BOARD, AND STAFF (NON-AGENDA ITEMS) If you wish to address the Library Board, please refer to the Notice at the beginning of this agenda. Individuals are limited to one appearance during this section of the Agenda. (The time allowed per person per non-agenda item for comments made by the public is limited to five minutes.) None H. REPORTS H-1 Consider Appointment of Interim Library Director – City Manager Scott Carney • City Manager Scott Carney recommended that the Board of Trustees appoint Andriana Martin as interim Library Director, retroactively effective August 1, 2024. Since the Board has the authority to appoint the interim director, Mr. Carney asked Ms. Martin to serve in this role until the Trustees could formalize the appointment. The temporary salary for this position would be $96,110 annually, meeting statutory requirements, and Ms. Martin would guide both library personnel and operations while the search for a permanent interim director continues. Motion to appoint Andriana Martin as interim Library Director, effective August 1, 2024, with a temporary annual salary of $96,110. Trustee Dalebout motioned, Trustee Melton seconded. Motion Carries. H-2 Library Report – Andriana Martin Building & Technology: • Furnishings for the patio project are underway, with Administrative Clerk Jazmin steadily working on the project. • The pay station launched on June 15, 2024, and Library Technician Bobby has been working hard to ensure a smooth transition. Staff & Volunteers: • The library is nearly fully staffed, with only one Library Associate position remaining open due to a backfill from Jenna's promotion to Senior Library Assistant. Lovepreet, one of the aides, was also promoted to Library Assistant. As of July 23, 2024, three new librarians have started and are undergoing training. Continuing Education & Meetings: • No updates to report. Programming & Outreach: Programs: • The Summer Reading Program was a huge success, with Yvette leading the event. Participants received small prizes weekly for collecting stamps, and completing five sections or the full sheet earned them entry into a drawing. Prizes included a tablet for children, earbuds for teens, and a 32-inch TV for adults. Staff members Lois and Bobby conducted the drawing, with the Friends of the Lodi Public Library sponsoring the grand prizes. • The Lunch at the Library program was also highly successful, with over 4,900 lunches served to local youth. The program ended with fellows presenting their PowerPoints on concepts such as cooperation, self-management, creativity, critical thinking, and resilience. Councilman Ramon Yepez presented stipends to the fellows. • The library celebrated its first Career Online High School graduate, Amanda Ramos, with a graduation ceremony on July 18, 2024. Amanda, joined by her family, received her high school diploma, and the program was sponsored by the California State Library and the Friends of the Lodi Public Library. Amanda's achievement was also featured on the front page of the Lodi News Sentinel. H-3 Private Sector (Trustees’) Investments Report • Bank of Stockton, July 31,2024: $1358.63 H-4 Lodi Public Library Foundation Report – Stuart Krengel • No updates to report. H-5 Friends of the Lodi Public Library Report – Kathryn Siddle • Kathryn reported that the bookstore earned $2,113.19 in June and $2,730.12 in July, bringing the year-to-date total to $16,297.30. The Friends of the Library are working on updating their marketing and mission statement. Kathryn expressed a desire to have everything in order in case she steps down, ensuring a smooth transition for her successor. The last MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) was signed in 2007, and Kathryn had begun updating the mission statement with former director Akilah Manuel, which she plans to continue. Yvette also did an excellent job managing the program budget, with funds still remaining. I.
